Today I am delighted to be helping close the blog tour for Spring Tides at the Starfish Cafe by Jessica Redland

My Review

I absolutely loved my trip to the Starfish Cafe and the opportunity to visit Hollie & Jake again. I am a massive fan of Jessica Redland and will always reach for one of her books when I fancy a light hearted story that tugs at the heart strings.

In this story we spent more time with Jake & Hollie and got to see how their relationship was progressing. We also got to spend time with Vic and learn more about her previous heartbreak as she strikes up an unlikely friendship with Bart after meeting him on the lifeboat.

A story rich in heartbreak and betrayal whilst demonstrating courage and fear amongst the loss, This story covered every conceivable emotion as Hollie has to make tough decisions when pushed into a corner and decide what is the future of Starfish Cafe and what does she want for her future.

I already can’t wait for the next one as I love the location of these books and Hollie & Jake make amazing lead characters.

Book Blurb

Welcome back to the Starfish Café – where you will find stunning views, delicious food and lifelong friendships.

A new season…

As winter turns to spring, Hollie – owner of The Starfish Café – is feeling content as she settles into her new life with her loving boyfriend, Jake, and their adorable dog Pickle.

A leap of faith

Can she find the strength to stop hiding from her past and face up to her family? Especially when that would mean letting her guard down and learning to trust again…

A fresh start…?

Little do Hollie and Tori know that their lives are about to collide at The Starfish Café and they may be able to help each other with a fresh start. After all, with good friends in your life, nothing is impossible…

Happy Publication Day to one of my favourite authors T.A Williams who today releases – An Escape to Remember

My Review

Another superb read by the wonderfully talented T.A Williams, I am a massive fan of his books and always jump at the chance to read his new release.

Set against the gorgeous backdrop of Italy, this story is rich in both landscape and romance. We meet Louise as she discovers her love life isn’t at all where she thought it was and accepts a new assignment in Italy renovating a gorgeous old hotel.

Louise is a wonderful leading lady who is full of warmth and compassion and not what you would have expected for someone completing the job she had been sent to the hotel to complete. She was far from the stereotypical trouble shooter and a pleasure to get to know during this story.

Brimming with wonderful views, sunny walks and unrequited love, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the atmosphere that is created within the story. As always it’s a pleasure to visit a gorgeous location and read all of the wonderful descriptions that make you feel like you are right there alongside them. I can’t wait to recommend this one as it’s the perfect way to kick off the warmer weather.

Book Blurb

She needed a getaway. What she found was a home.

When Louise surprises her boyfriend by returning early from a work trip, safe to say she wasn’t expecting to see him in flagrante delicto with another woman. Heart-torn and vowing to stay away from men, when Louise’s next project involves restoring an ageing hotel in Italy, she leaps at the chance to get away.

Managed by a crew of sextagenarians, the Grand Hotel del Monferrato needs all the love and care Louise can give it. But it’s hard to stay focused on the job when her thoughts keep straying to Vito, the reclusive and mysterious neighbour.

With his tragic past and her no-romance policy, Louise knows they can’t have a future. Yet something keeps pulling the two together…

A beautiful romance set in the hills of Turin

Meet the Author

I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing escapist romance is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.

Happy Publication Day to the wonderful Katie Ginger who today releases The Little Library on Cherry Lane

My Review

Today I am super excited to be helping celebrate the release of The Little Library on Cherry Lane, a delightful story full of charm and wonderful characters.

Katie has a way of capturing the whole essence of a person when she writes so not only does she describe the location in such a visual way that the story plays out in front of your eyes she also does this with her characters. Elsie loves the library and always has found it a place that calms and soothes her soul, so when she finds out about the plans for her beloved refuge the normally quiet Elsie develops a who new persona.

When I picked up this book, I knew I needed to get comfy as I straight away was transported to Cherry Lane with it’s cute library which is a real central point for the whole village with wonderful connections to all of the other small businesses surrounding it. I loved the friendship between Elsie and Gemma and how the relationship between them was described and drawn upon throughout the story.

I really don’t want to give too much away, but I loved this book and wanted to just keep reading as I love books with a wonderful array of characters and not only did it have this in buckets but it was set in an idyllic village as well. As always a wonderful story full of love, loyalty and compassion, that i truly loved beginning to end.

Book Blurb

Elsie Martin may lead a quiet life, but working in her beloved local library is enough to make her happy. After all, books have always been her armour against the world. So when the library is threatened with closure to make way for a new housing development, Elsie knows it has to be saved – and that, despite being painfully shy, she needs to lead the campaign to save it.

Jacob Yardley thinks he’s doing the right thing by building a new affordable housing development. Why shouldn’t local people be able to buy a house in the place they grew up? Having to leave his own small hometown broke his heart. Plus, people don’t really use libraries anymore, do they?

As Elsie and Jacob clash over the future of the library, sparks begin to fly. Jacob is falling back in love with books and libraries – could he possibly be falling for her too? And will Elsie be able to save the library that means so much to her?

Today I am excited to share my review for Villa of Second Chance by Jennifer Bohnet

My Review

I loved the opportunity to visit this lovely selection of characters, with the story set against the gorgeous backdrop of the French Riviera. We meet Rebecca & Delphine head towards a change in their paths after Delphine was suddenly widowed, whilst they are also preparing for the second wedding for Freya and Marcus.

I am a massive fan of books by this wonderful author as they are always set in a warm and sunny location and always contain that wonderful feel good factor to make you smile even on the most miserable days. The villa that they have hired for the wedding sounds amazing and as soon as the words swimming pool were uttered, I could just imagine cocktails around the pool.

This story is about second chance for everyone whether that be in love or just reconnecting family ties, I love the insight we gain into each personal story as we spend time with everyone. A truly gorgeous story based around the wonderful love story of Freya and Marcus, another highly recommended read.

Today I am so excited to be sharing my review for the 5* delight – Love Lessons in Starcross Valley by Lucy Knott

My Review

Oh what a story, the minute I met Marnie I knew I would love her as this wonderful love story takes you from Canada to Orion her hometown. This book is an absolute beauty and I loved it from beginning to end.

Whilst reading this book I felt that we were literally getting to know Marnie as she made life changing decisions and we got to know her tiny personality quirks, her character was the real deal and I loved her story.

I loved that the story was written about twins as the main characters knowing that the author is a twin, it covered off frustrations and also the unwaivering love and support you always receive. With dinosaur facts scattered throughout and a love of the solar system, this story sucked me straight into Marnie’s world and had me reading late into the night and early morning snuggled up with my coffee.

I could easily have kept reading about these amazing characters and was left with a book hangover to realise I had reached the end far too quickly. I say this every time but I think Lucy did truly surpass herself this time with this little beauty.

Book Blurb

With the recent breakdown of both her ten-year relationship and her parents’ marriage, thirty-five-year-old Marnie Barnes no longer believes in love. To give her life the shake-up it so clearly needs, she books a ticket to Canada.

Thousands of miles away from her home and her twin sister, she struggles to have the life-changing experience she dreamt of – until she meets Nova, a dinosaur-loving space nerd with a penchant for living in the moment. After a wonderful day together in Vancouver, they part ways. Though gutted, Marnie thinks it’s proof that she’s not meant to find love and tries to move on with her life.

But a few months later, back in England, she bumps into someone achingly familiar. As Marnie navigates her new feelings, takes chances and makes the first move for the first time in her life, can she regain her faith in love – and find it for herself?

Lucy Knott lives in Manchester England, just around the corner from her childhood home and less than five minutes from her twin sister Kelly and brother in law Chris. She loves spending time with her family in addition to writing, reading and cooking Italian food. When not buried in a book, scribbling in a notebook or having dance parties for one to Harry Styles, she works as a teaching assistant where the majority of her days are spent talking about dinosaurs and making Godzilla out of just about everything, from Blu Tac to cardboard boxes, and she loves every minute.

If she could up and move to the stunning Amalfi Coast, San Francisco or live in a cabin surrounded by fairy lights, she would, but for now she’s quite content writing about those magical places. Lucy loves to write uplifting stories that she hopes will put a smile on your face, fill your heart with joy, encourage you to embrace the awesomeness that you are and believe that any dream is possible.

On this rather gloomy Sunday afternoon, I am delighted to share my review for Wishing Under a Starlit Skye by Lisa Hobman

My Review

What a corker, I was really looking forward to this one as I love trying out authors who I haven’t read much from before and this book did not disappoint. We meet single Mum Caitlin and her daughter Grace, as Grace turns 13 her Mum decides it might be time to start thinking about her love life again.

This story follows Caitlin as she embarks on some single nights to see if she can find someone to light that spark in her again. These adventures are filled with moments to make you laugh and cringe in equal measure. I think the author has perfectly created the environment in which she is writing about and it made me chuckle as reminded me of stories from friends with similar experiences.

As I read I enjoyed the fun element of the dating alongside the day to day highs and lows of life including a few unexpected surprises and curve balls. I loved the characters of Caitlin and Grace as they searched for the perfect balance and addressed her life choices in the lead up to the moment that she is in. I found this was a story I loved to come back to and I looked forward to sneaking in another 5 mins wherever I could to keep reading.

I can’t wait to read more by this author as this book held my attention beginning to end and I could easily visualise the story as it continue to unfold.

Book Blurb

Glentorrin bakery owner, and lone parent, Caitlin Fraser, is single and finally ready to mingle.

With her daughter, Grace, about to become a teenager, and her friends all settling down, Caitlin decides she deserves a shot at happiness too.

Resisting the pull of dating apps, Caitlin embarks upon a series of disastrous singles events where she bumps into fellow villager, and astronomy buff, Archie Sutherland, who is nursing his own past secrets.

When Grace’s best friend’s father, handsome Lyle Budge, asks Caitlin to dinner, things progress quickly and she has a taste of what their future as a family could be, much to both their daughters delight! But when Archie makes a shocking discovery, and he turns to Caitlin for help, she soon discovers Lyle isn’t the sharing type, meaning prickly ultimatums loom for everyone.

Will wishing upon the stars over Glentorrin help Caitlin to figure out her way forward? Or is her hunt for romance like a once in a lifetime comet, easily missed in the blink of an eye?

This evening I am so excited to be sharing my review for superb – The Library by Bella Osborne

My Review

I absolutely loved this heart warming story with Maggie and Tom quickly assuming the lead roles we follow their stories as they hit a cross roads where they encounter eachother and forge a friendship. The relationship between them initially feels like a necessity to them both due to the loneliness but as the story continues to progress so much more starts to evolve from this unlikely friendship.

Set between the library and the farm, both of which are places I’ve always loved to spend time. I loved this book and flew through it far too quickly. This story covers alcoholism, loss and loneliness but is written with such compassion that you are compelled to keep reading.

A superb book to kick the year off with, I really connected with the characters and felt sad to reach the end, I loved watching the relationship between Maggie & Tom grow as they both learnt to live a little more again and find a reason to laugh.

Book Blurb

Two different generations. Two unusual people. Thrown together to save their local library.

Tom is a teenager and blends into the background of life. After a row with his dad, and facing an unhappy future at the dog food factory, he escapes to the library. Tom unwittingly ends up with a bagful of romance novels and comes under the suspicion of Maggie.

Maggie is a pensioner and has been happily alone for ten years, at least that’s what she tells herself. When Tom comes to her rescue a friendship develops that could change her life. As Maggie helps Tom to stand up for himself, Tom helps Maggie realise the mistakes of her past don’t have to define her future.

They each set out to prove that the library isn’t just about books – it’s the heart of their community.

Together they discover some things are worth fighting for.

Bella Osborne has been jotting down stories as far back as she can remember but decided that 2013 would be the year that she finished a full length novel. In 2016, her debut novel, It Started At Sunset Cottage, was shortlisted for the Contemporary Romantic Novel of the Year and RNA Joan Hessayon New Writers Award. Bella’s stories are about friendship, love and coping with what life throws at you. She likes to find the humour in the darker moments of life and weaves these into her stories. Bella believes that writing your own story really is the best fun ever, closely followed by talking, eating chocolate, drinking fizz and planning holidays. She lives in the Midlands, UK with her lovely husband and wonderful daughter, who thankfully, both accept her as she is (with mad morning hair and a penchant for skipping).

Today I am delighted to be joining the blog tour for A Wedding at Hedgehog Hollow by Jessica Redland

My Review

I am loving this series and this wonderful story did not disappoint, after the ending of the last book I was left desperate to know what was going to come next and this book plunges straight back into the story.

I loved that this time we got to spend time with Phoebe the quiet accountant and get to know her and her family, this story kept me keen to keep reading as I felt a real empathy towards Phoebe and little Darci as we came to understand more about their family set up and how important the role at Hedgehog Hollow really is to Phoebe.

Jessica Redland has a wonderful way with words and has quickly become a firm favourite as an author for me to pick up, especially when I need a little distraction. Her books are like receiving a hug and they always leave me either feeling warm and fuzzy.

If you are looking for some ultimate distraction, definitely read this series they are truly wonderful and the hedgehogs are simply wonderful to learn about.

Book Blurb

It’s time for the wedding we’ve all been waiting for…

Life at Hedgehog Hollow is never dull, although Samantha hopes that the new year ahead will be a little less chaotic as she prepares to marry the love of her life, Josh. But disaster strikes when she checks the rescue centre’s bank account after the festive season and discovers it has been emptied. Who would do such a thing, and why? With the future of Hedgehog Hollow now in jeopardy, planning a wedding has lost its shine.

Today I am delighted to be sharing this festive treat with you – The Amsterdam Affair by Kate Frost

My Review

What an absolute corker of a Christmas fairytale, set against the snowy backdrop of Amsterdam. You will love spending this Christmas with Iris as she embarks on a new adventure as she and partner Will relocate in the approach to Christmas.

A story rich in passion that takes you on a journey of rediscovery and self belief, I loved meeting Iris as she starts to find her feet in Amsterdam after abruptly leaving her job to join partner Will as he accepts a promotion. We get to see how Will likes to get his own way early on and how this impacts upon Iris after she has left everything behind to support him in his new job.

The title indicates an affair but you don’t expect it to be with actual Amsterdam itself as we watch Iris lose her heart to the snowy city. She is a wonderful example of how we can sometimes lose our way and how we have to be true to ourselves to achieve happiness, even if it means taking a different path to the one we originally had planned.

I loved the characters and the connection she forms with Bram, whilst I instantly disliked Will and his attitude I instantly loved Bram and the friendship he forms with Iris. The author creates a magical atmosphere that feels like a giant hug for the entirety of the book.

Book Blurb

A new start, a chance encounter, a Christmas to remember. Will Iris’s new year be happy ever after?

When Iris Greene’s boyfriend surprises her with a romantic dinner at their favourite restaurant, she’s expecting a proposal, not a move to another country.

But Amsterdam proves to be the change she never knew she needed, and a surprise encounter with a local actor leads Iris to new friends and the rediscovery of a long lost passion. While Iris thrives in a city filled with festivity, her boyfriend struggles, and her heart is torn in two.

As snow falls and secrets are revealed, Iris must decide her future. Will she be brave enough to start over and take a chance on love?

Kicking off the week with our first of three reviews today – Flora’s Travelling Christmas Shop by Rebecca Raisin

My Review

I have always loved books by Rebecca Raisin and this great book was no exception. It was well written and packed with great characters.  The book leads you into the story of the two best friends during their daily lives and this was totally relatable to me and my bestie especially with Christmas now just around the corner. Packed with lots of laughter and that made me chuckle out loud a few times and just cemented my love of the book.

We are introduced early on to a male character and as the insults fly, I found myself really buying into the characters and the antics caused me to laugh out loud and causing me to have to explain about what I was reading and why I was laughing. I love how there is the influence for Flora not to change and to stay true to herself and her beliefs as their two worlds collide.

This is what I would call a proper proper chick flick read, I loved it and just couldn’t put it down as I wanted to know where the plot twists would take me and what would happen as I neared the end of the story.  I love this author, her books are always a fabulous read and this one is right up there with the best of them.

Book Blurb

Tis the season for mulled wine, mince pies, and magic under the mistletoe…

Flora loves Christmas more than anything else in the world, so she’s gutted when her Scrooge-alike boss fires her from Deck the Halls Christmas emporium. But now she finally has a chance to follow her dreams – and what better place to start than the home of Christmas?

Before she can say ‘sleigh bells’, Flora’s on her way to Lapland in a campervan-cum-Christmas-shop. She can’t wait to spend her days drinking hot chocolate and taking reindeer-drawn carriage rides, but something Flora didn’t expect was meeting Connor, a Norse god of a man who makes her heart flutter and snowflakes swirl in her stomach. There’s just one problem: Connor hates Christmas.

Can Flora convince Connor of the joys of Christmas – and will she find a festive romance along the way?
