Today I am delighted to be sharing my review for the Final Book in the series Happy Endings at Mermaids Point by Sarah Bennett

My Review

I was super excited to hear this book was being released as I absolutely love reading books by this wonderful author and I have loved this series.

Over this series we have spent time with Laurie, Ivy and Nerissa and gotten to know these wonderful ladies and their families. In this story it is picked up with Aurora who was in the beginning of the series and now working in America whilst Nick is moving on with his life after completing the warehouse conversion.

I quickly found myself immersed in the story as I remembered these wonderful characters and where we had last left the story. I always find that with books by this author, I just want to keep reading. They always have such a feel good factor about them whilst having the ability to make you laugh and occasionally cry throughout.

I am so sad to have reached the end of this series, but I absolutely loved revisiting Mermaids Point and watching Nerissa marrying the lovely Tom and seeing who would also find their happily ever afters.

Book Blurb

Music sensation Aurora Storm finally has her career back on track, but then she’s caught up in a media storm. Desperate to distract from the story, she enlists the one man she trusts to pretend to be her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, in the small seaside village of Mermaids Point, Nick Morgan never expected to see Aurora again. When she calls out of the blue needing his help, he agrees at once. It feels like she’s back in his life for a reason, and he’s determined to make the most of it.

Aurora joins Nick and the rest of his family for their festive celebrations and, as the snow falls, Aurora finds herself caught up in the romance of Christmas. But having tasted worldwide fame, can she ever be content with village life?

Two weeks is all Nick has to prove to Aurora that there’s a happy ending for them both in Mermaids Point.

Today I am super excited to share my review for Christmas Miracles at Hedgehog Hollow by Jessica Redland

My Review

I was super excited to pick this book up as I’ve absolutely loved the Hedgehog Hollow series. Jessica Redland is one of my favourite authors to pick up and lose myself in.

This visit to Hedgehog Hollow is our last visit and whilst reading this story was tinged with sadness at being the last, the story soon grabs you and makes you want to keep reading.

Filled with drama from the offset, I was soon totally oblivious to the world around me as I just kept reading about the drama surrounding those at Hedgehog Hollow.

This story does contain potentially triggering subjects, which were sensitively handled throughout. I highly recommend grabbing a copy so you can see how the final trip to Hedgehog Hollow pans out for all of its wonderful residents and what beats a story set at my favourite time of year.

Book Blurb

It’s the countdown to Christmas at Hedgehog Hollow Wildlife Rescue Centre, and everyone is gearing up for a festive season to remember…

It should be the most wonderful time of the year for Samantha and Josh as they prepare for the arrival of their first baby. But life at Hedgehog Hollow rarely goes to plan and the pair are faced with adversaries, old and new, and unexpected challenges to overcome.

Fizz’s job at the heart of the rescue centre is a dream come true but her personal life is more like a nightmare. With her love life a disaster and her past about to dramatically catch up with her, she needs the love and support of her Hedgehog Hollow family more than ever.

As the snow falls over Hedgehog Hollow, will Samantha and Fizz find the Christmas miracle they need to overcome their heartache and find happiness?

As our thoughts all turn to Christmas, we are jumping onto the blog tour for Christmas at the Borrow the Bookshop by Kiley Dunbar

My Review

I absolutely loved the first visit to Borrow the Bookshop and couldn’t wait to pick this book up and what a wonderful second instalment to the series. I was instantly hooked and reaching for my book each time I sat down so I could learn more about the grief stricken Alex and the brooding Magnus.

I absolutely oved revisiting Clove Lore and hearing about how the wonderful residents were getting on, we get to meet many of the same characters from the first book whilst meeting a few new additions including Magnus whose name and finally reached the top of the waiting list for the beloved Bookshop.

This is a wonderful story to make you laugh and cry in equal measures filled with wonderful highs and some real lump in your throat moments. I am already super excited to read the next one as I truly loved this story.

Book Blurb

‘Tis the season for finding love… and the perfect book

With just two weeks until Christmas, everything in Clove Lore should be perfect. But the latest holidaymaker to the Borrow a Bookshop is feeling far from festive…

Icelandic ex-bookseller Magnús Sturluson might be surrounded by love stories in the Bookshop, but he’s nursing a sadness that not even fiction can fix.

When Alexandra Robinson finds herself stranded in Clove Lore, she finds a safe place to hide from heartbreak. After all, all that’s waiting for her at home is a cheater boyfriend and the memories of her parents. As Alex finds herself embraced by the quirky village community, she finds her tough exterior thawing – and as she grows closer to Magnús, she finds an equally soft heart under his gruff shell.

It seems that Clove Lore is working its magic once again – until a great flood on Christmas Eve brings devastation in its wake. It’s up to Magnús and Alex to batten down the hatches and help bring the village back together again, while also introducing the locals to the Icelandic tradition of the jólabókaflóð – Yule book flood – where families and friends gather on Christmas Eve to exchange books and read together.

But can Magnús and Alex truly rescue the ruins of the village, and salvage their Christmas spirit? Or is there another complication lurking even closer than they thought?

Today I am delighted to be sharing this festive treat with you – The Amsterdam Affair by Kate Frost

My Review

What an absolute corker of a Christmas fairytale, set against the snowy backdrop of Amsterdam. You will love spending this Christmas with Iris as she embarks on a new adventure as she and partner Will relocate in the approach to Christmas.

A story rich in passion that takes you on a journey of rediscovery and self belief, I loved meeting Iris as she starts to find her feet in Amsterdam after abruptly leaving her job to join partner Will as he accepts a promotion. We get to see how Will likes to get his own way early on and how this impacts upon Iris after she has left everything behind to support him in his new job.

The title indicates an affair but you don’t expect it to be with actual Amsterdam itself as we watch Iris lose her heart to the snowy city. She is a wonderful example of how we can sometimes lose our way and how we have to be true to ourselves to achieve happiness, even if it means taking a different path to the one we originally had planned.

I loved the characters and the connection she forms with Bram, whilst I instantly disliked Will and his attitude I instantly loved Bram and the friendship he forms with Iris. The author creates a magical atmosphere that feels like a giant hug for the entirety of the book.

Book Blurb

A new start, a chance encounter, a Christmas to remember. Will Iris’s new year be happy ever after?

When Iris Greene’s boyfriend surprises her with a romantic dinner at their favourite restaurant, she’s expecting a proposal, not a move to another country.

But Amsterdam proves to be the change she never knew she needed, and a surprise encounter with a local actor leads Iris to new friends and the rediscovery of a long lost passion. While Iris thrives in a city filled with festivity, her boyfriend struggles, and her heart is torn in two.

As snow falls and secrets are revealed, Iris must decide her future. Will she be brave enough to start over and take a chance on love?

Now for our second review of the day, we are sharing another festive read – A Bookshop Christmas by

My Review

Well as a massive lover of Christmas and a book addict this was the perfect book title for me to want to dive in. We meet Megan and her Mum straight away as we get to know a little about Megan’s past and want bought her back to York to help her Mum in the bookshop.

I loved the book club they ran and that it was focused around romantic fiction as that is one of my goto genres for when I need a lift. I found Megan a really likeable character and from the off you could feel her determination to try and keep moving forward despite her heartache. Xander was a character that I initially didn’t like and blew a little hot and cold for me although I did thaw towards him as Megan started to get to know him and peel back some of his protective layers.

A highly enjoyable book, with romance around every corner from the books they were reading to the characters that made the story. I loved their Christmas party theme and the enthusiasm captured for the book club by these lovely ladies.

Book Blurb

A Snowstorm. A stranger. A Spark. It should be the perfect start to the perfect love story.

But real life is far messier and more complicated than in the pages of the books in Megan Taylor’s family bookshop – the last few years have left this young widow in no doubt of that. Moving back home to York should have been a fresh start, but all it did was allow her to retreat from the world.

When prize-winning author Xander Stone rams his supermarket trolley into her ankles and then trashes her taste in books, Megan is abruptly awoken from her self-imposed hibernation. It’s time to start living again, and she’s going to start by putting this arrogant, superior – admittedly sexy – stranger in his place.

Just as she is beginning to enjoy life again, the worst happens and Megan begins to wonder if she should have stayed hidden away. Because it turns out that falling in love again is about more than just meeting under the mistletoe…

Kicking off the week with our first of three reviews today – Flora’s Travelling Christmas Shop by Rebecca Raisin

My Review

I have always loved books by Rebecca Raisin and this great book was no exception. It was well written and packed with great characters.  The book leads you into the story of the two best friends during their daily lives and this was totally relatable to me and my bestie especially with Christmas now just around the corner. Packed with lots of laughter and that made me chuckle out loud a few times and just cemented my love of the book.

We are introduced early on to a male character and as the insults fly, I found myself really buying into the characters and the antics caused me to laugh out loud and causing me to have to explain about what I was reading and why I was laughing. I love how there is the influence for Flora not to change and to stay true to herself and her beliefs as their two worlds collide.

This is what I would call a proper proper chick flick read, I loved it and just couldn’t put it down as I wanted to know where the plot twists would take me and what would happen as I neared the end of the story.  I love this author, her books are always a fabulous read and this one is right up there with the best of them.

Book Blurb

Tis the season for mulled wine, mince pies, and magic under the mistletoe…

Flora loves Christmas more than anything else in the world, so she’s gutted when her Scrooge-alike boss fires her from Deck the Halls Christmas emporium. But now she finally has a chance to follow her dreams – and what better place to start than the home of Christmas?

Before she can say ‘sleigh bells’, Flora’s on her way to Lapland in a campervan-cum-Christmas-shop. She can’t wait to spend her days drinking hot chocolate and taking reindeer-drawn carriage rides, but something Flora didn’t expect was meeting Connor, a Norse god of a man who makes her heart flutter and snowflakes swirl in her stomach. There’s just one problem: Connor hates Christmas.

Can Flora convince Connor of the joys of Christmas – and will she find a festive romance along the way?

I love a festive read and today I am sharing my review for Under the Mistletoe by Sue Moorcroft

My Review

Ever since I was lucky enough to meet Sue at a book signing a couple of years ago, I always jump at the chance to read her latest release and this one does not disappoint.

Set in the village of Middledip where everyone knows eachothers business, I loved this book from the first few pages when we first meet Laurel. Laurel has returned to the village she grew up in to help her sister and early on I loved the importance placed on both the relationship with her sister and overcoming trauma.

This is a story with lots of different scenarios playing out for many characters that have massive impacts on their lives and I loved spending time with them all and getting to know them as they found ways to move forward and old friendships were resurrected.

Another superb festive read that I love, I have my own teenage artistic daughter called Daisy and that added so much to the story for me and just made me love it even more.

I am already excited for the next release by this fab author as her books always hit the spot.

Book Blurb

Christmas. A time for family, friends – and rekindling old flames…

When Laurel returns to the village of Middledip, she’s looking for a quiet life. Adjusting to her recent divorce, she’s ready to spend some time getting back on her feet amidst the glorious snow-dusted countryside.

Yet, life in Middledip is far from straightforward. Coming to the aid of her sister, Rea, as she navigates her own troubles, Laurel barely has a moment to think about where her own life is going.

However, time stands still when she sees her old flame, Grady Cassidy – and it’s soon as if they’ve never been apart. But through her happiness, Laurel remembers why she left the village all those years ago, as she recalls a dark night and Grady’s once-wayward brother, Mac…

Can Laurel learn to forgive and forget? Or will her chances of Christmas under the mistletoe with Grady remain a dream?

An enchanting, festive read, perfect for fans of Sarah Morgan and Carole Matthews.

Today I am delighted to be joining the blog tour for Christmas by the Coast by Mandy Baggott

My Review

I have read a few books by Mandy Baggot over the past few years and now I just need to read her whole back catalogue as this book was brilliant. I made the fatal mistake of starting this late in the evening and saying I would just read a couple of chapters. This book had me hooked in the first chapter and it continued to keep my attention. I found myself on tenderhooks and then needed to know what came next and so I kept reading long after I should have gone to sleep. I loved getting to know the characters and each one has a slightly different storyline whilst all being linked to the same family.

I found that the story contained a selection of great characters including ones that I could relate to like Lester, Lester is lucky to have a great friend who always has his back and this creates a fantastic feel good storyline.

Harriet was a superb character who ups and leaves after losing her Grandmother so that she can comfort her Grandpa. She embarks on an emotional rollercoaster where she has to confront feelings from her past and also try to keep moving forward and deciding what she wants to do with her future.

A story rich in emotions including heartache, love and loss, I found that it made me smile and it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling as I continued to read and forged emotional connections to the characters. I absolutely loved this book and totally lost myself in the story line losing all track of time and what was going on around me.

Book Blurb

This Christmas, find out if love letters from the past can pave the way to a brand-new future …

After a terrible heartbreak, Harriet Cookson worked hard to build her life back up. Now she has a dependable boyfriend, a great job and a decent flatshare. But when her beloved grandmother passes away, Harriet drops everything to fly out to the Hamptons to comfort her grieving grandpa.

Christmas is coming and as she arrives on the sandy beaches of her childhood in Montauk, Long Island, Harriet spots someone she never expected to see again – her ‘one that got away’, ex-soldier Mack Wyatt. Now, Mack is determined to win Harriet back and show her that the life she’s been living might be the wrong happily-ever-after.

Today I am delighted to be sharing my review for the wonderfully festive – The Christmas Escape by Sarah Morgan

My Review

It is never Christmas until I’ve read Sarah Morgan’s Christmas release and this year she has whisked us off to Lapland with Christy, Seb and her family for a magical snowy Christmas and to reconnect with family.

I absolutely loved this story, it was full of fun and establishing new traditions. When I started reading this story, it quickly provides a fractured relationship and you start to think that maybe this isn’t going to be the fairytale you envisage when you think of a feel good festive read. However the more I kept turning the pages the more I connected with the characters and could see lots of fractures with the potential to heal during this story.

Set against the gorgeous snowy backdrop of the Northern Lights this story is full of vivid descriptions and warming hot chocolate to help keep the body and soul warm. A wonderful story with wonderful characters that I was sad to reach the end of.

Book Blurb

It was supposed to be Christy Sullivan’s perfect Christmas escape – a dream trip to Lapland with her family and best friend, Alix. But facing a make-or-break marriage crisis, Christy desperately needs time alone with her husband, Seb. Her solution? Alix, along with Seb’s oldest friend, Zac, can take Christy’s daughter on the planned Lapland trip, and they will all reunite there for Christmas Day. After all, what are friends for?

There’s nothing Alix won’t do for Christy, but Christy’s plan to save Christmas is testing their friendship. Especially as Alix and Zac have a difficult history of their own.

As long-held secrets unravel, and unexpected romance shines under the Northern Lights, can Christy and Alix find the courage to fight for the relationships they really want? And could this Christmas escape save the precious gift of each other’s friendship?

Festive Reads Day 4 No One Cancels Christmas by Zara Stoneley

Day 4 of our festive reads and this is a particular favourite from the books I have read this year. I love Zara Stoneley books and this was a lovely warm fuzzy Christmas story, set in the beautiful snowy mountains in Canada.

During this story Sarah is forced to confront her past by returning to the beautiful Shooting Star Mountain resort where she has magical memories but also where her life changed forever.

A lovely warm fuzzy read that wraps you in a hug, Will and Sarah are characters you can empathise with and the story that pulls you in, so you keep turning the pages to find out what happens. A highly recommended read that will get you in the mood for Christmas and have you wishing for snow so you can make a snowman and snow angels.

Book Blurb

A holiday she’ll remember forever…

It’s the most magical time of the year, and for travel agent Sarah it’s also the busiest! But this year one man threatens to ruin Christmas for Sarah’s customers – Mr Grinch, Will Armstrong.

The Shooting Star Mountain resort is a magical place, and Sarah has fond memories of Christmas here as a little girl – visits to Father Christmas, husky rides in the snow and hot chocolate by a roaring fire. But as the resorts new owner, Will refuses to play snowball or to deck the halls with anything remotely resembling tinsel!

With customers complaining their Christmas is ruined, Sarah decides it’s up to her to convince Scroogey Will just how magical Christmas can be….

But getting Will into the Christmas spirit is hopeless – he is Bah Humbug personified! But as Sarah gets to know him better, she realises that underneath all the gloom is a man struggling with a pain of his own.

With the big day approaching, Sarah realises that the magic and sparkle can wait. This year, she’s going to spend Christmas day with someone special her very own Mr Scrooge…
