Today I am excited to be sharing my review for A Christmas Kiss by Eliza J Scott, this was my first book by this author and what a corker to start with. I read this as a stand alone book and now want to read the previous books, I loved meeting these wonderful characters in the lovely moorland village of Lytell Stangdale.

Livvie is a bubbly character loooking to escape her current life and seek refuge for a quiet Christmas where she doesn’t know anyone. What she is expecting when she books her last minute trip to Lytell Stangdale and what happens turn out to be very different, when she encounters Zander and his lovely rescue Labrador Alf.

I loved this book from the first few pages and the array of vibrant personalities scattered throughout this festive read just jumped off the pages. I can’t believe this was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more as I quickly fell in love with the characters and was eager to keep reading.

A sparkling festive romance that will warm your heart this Christmas.

The week before Christmas, GP Zander Gillespie finds his festive plans in tatters. He’s supposed to be flying out to his parents’ chateau in Carcassonne with his high-maintenance girlfriend, Melissa. But she has other ideas. She wants to spend Christmas in London with her party friends – and he’s not invited. The prospect of facing his family, with their questions and their sympathy – not to mention the ‘I told you so-s’ – just isn’t an option. Instead, Zander decides to head to his holiday cottage in the quaint moorland village of Lytell Stangdale, where he intends to hide away with his faithful rescue Labrador Alf.

Eighty miles away, Livvie’s world has come crashing down. With plans to cook a romantic meal for her boyfriend, she heads home early and walks in on him in a compromising position with their neighbour. Fed-up of his lies and philandering ways, this is the final straw. With her Christmas plans up in smoke, the thought of spending it with her parents and her smug, married sister with her pompous husband in tow, is enough to bring Livvie out in hives. So, when she fires up her laptop and finds the perfect little holiday cottage in Lytell Stangdale available to rent over the festive period, it seems the perfect solution. Or is it…?

Zander didn’t believe in love at first sight until he set eyes on Livvie. Livvie had sworn off men until she met Zander. The pair may be reluctant to give in to temptation, but fate seems to have other ideas…

Join Livvie and Zander – and all the usual characters – for a magical Christmas in Lytell Stangdale.

The perfect cosy read to snuggle up with this Christmas

Today I am excited to share my publication day review for the latest visit to Bluebell Castle, where we get to catch up with the triplets again and the progress they are making turning the castle around.

I am loving this series of books and the superb character additions in this book, bring a whole new dimension to the story. When reading about Bluebell castle I feel like Sarah has personally introduced me to each character so I can really connect with them as their story unfolds.

I loved this book and flew through it in a couple of short sittings, I was so keen to see what would happen and if they would get the magical Christmas for their guests that they have been planning. A superb third book in this series that will leave you with a fuzzy feeling and wanting to plan a Christmas trip to a magical castle.

#Review Today is my stop on this festive blog tour and I am sharing my review for Christmas at Wynter House by Emily Harvale

Christmas at Wynter House

Today is my stop on the blog tour for Christmas at Wynter House. A lovely festive read that will make you laugh and cringe throughout.

Neva Grey is at a turning point in her life where she needs to come up with a plan but first she is spending Christmas with her family in a nice little rented cottage.

From the second that Neva arrives she leave a trail of destruction that will make you giggle. As Christmas draws closer it appears that even the weather is now conspiring against the family and their nice cosy Christmas that they had planned.

I loved this book, it made me laugh, gasp and want to bury my head in my hands. It is full of festive cheer and I loved meeting the new characters in this story and can’t wait to read more about them. A great book to get you in the mood for Christmas set in a lovely location.

Book Blurb

After a frosty welcome, things soon heat up at Wynter House.

Neva Grey is looking forward to spending a quiet Christmas with her family in the cosy cottage they’ve rented in the picture-postcard village of Wyntersleap. Nestled between rolling hills and a gently burbling river, it’s going to be idyllic.
Except it’s not. Torrential rain causes the river to burst its banks and the quaint little village isn’t quite so cosy with water lapping at the doors. Add to that a power cut and a sudden blizzard and Christmas is looking bleak … until gorgeous Adam Wynter invites them all to Wynter House.
Although not everyone is happy to share the ancestral home. Adam’s elder brother, Rafe is less than pleased. Their grandmother, Olivia extends a grudging welcome. And for Carruthers, the oddly arrogant butler, unexpected guests are a Christmas surprise he could do without. Especially one as troublesome as Neva’s eight-year-old niece.
But something’s not quite right at Wynter House. What is Rafe intent on hiding behind the locked doors of the old barn? And what really happened to his first wife? It’s a good thing Neva has a sense of humour. She’s going to need it this Christmas at Wynter House.
This is book one in the Wyntersleap series but it can be read as a standalone. The Wyntersleap series is interlinked with the Merriment Bay series and several characters appear in both series.

#Review Today I am joining the blog tour for Christmas Secrets at Villa Limoncello by Daisy James #BackaBlogger #BlogTour @rararesources @daisyjamesbooks

Christmas Secrets at the Villa Limoncello Canelo

Today I am joining the blog tour for the third book in the Limoncello series, I am loving these books and jumped at the chance to visit Tuscany again and the gorgeous Villa Limoncello.

I love the magic that has been created in these stories between the Villa and Carlotta and it’s ability to slow everyone down and help them rediscover happiness.

I am a foodie and love the food and crafts throughout this book and the recipes at the end so that you can try and recreate some of the Tuscan magic in your own kitchen. The book is brimming with fantastic characters, that create the feeling that you are right there in Tuscany with them. A book that leaves you with a hankering for home cooked mince pies and a visit to the gorgeous Tuscan sights.

A superb addition to the series where once again you get swept away and before you know it you have reached the end of the book.

#Review Today I am joining the blog tour for The Gift of Happiness by Holly Martin #BlogTour #BackaBlogger @HollyMAuthor

Today I am joining the blog tour for The Gift of Happiness, I loved the first book and was really excited at the opportunity to visit the wonderful village of Happiness again.

From the first page where we are with Christmas loving Ruby as she arrives in Happiness a few months after initially falling in love with the village. This book pulls you straight back in and I fell immediately back in love with the wonderful village and its vast array of characters. I loved the awkwardness and tension between Jacob and Ruby from when they find they are sharing a shop and how this unravels as you keep reading with the cackle of tension in the air continuing to build as they both deny their feelings.

It was wonderful to take a festive trip back to this lovely village, I absolutely love the whole idea of relaunching a village with a years free rent and fell in love with these wonderful characters all over again. A brilliant read that will leave you feeling festive and full of love.

Book Blurb

This December Ruby Marlowe is relocating her little Christmas shop and everything she owns to the pretty seaside village of Happiness. With her best friend Willow already living there, and a heartbreaking past she’d rather forget, Ruby jumped at the offer of a cosy cottage and a fresh start on the Cornish coast. But she wasn’t the only one…

The last person Ruby expects to find in Happiness is her summer fling, the very gorgeous Jacob Harrington. He’s the only man who has come close to unlocking her heart, and therefore the one man she knew she could never see again. But now he’s here in the same village, and the chemistry between them is more electric than ever.

Falling in love again is something Ruby has vowed never to do. But Jacob is determined to change her mind.

As the village sparkles with Christmas lights and the snow begins to fall, can Jacob convince Ruby that love is worth the risk? And will Ruby accept the gift of happiness that Jacob is offering her before it’s too late?

She quit her job and returned to university to train to be a teacher. Three years later, she emerged wide eyed and terrified that she now had responsibility for the development of thirty young minds. She taught for four years and then escaped the classroom to teach history workshops, dressing up as a Viking one day and an Egyptian High Priestess the next. #Review Today I am super excited to be helping kick off the blog tour for Snowflakes at Mistletoe Cottage by Katie Ginger #BlogTour #BackaBlogger @rararesources @KatieGAuthor

Snowflakes at Mistletoe Cottage.png

Today I am delighted to be helping kick off the blog tour for Snowflakes at Mistletoe Cottage, I have been eagerly awaiting this book and what a little gem it was.

Esme thinks she has life under control and everything heading in the right direction until the rug is pulled from under her feet. After a horrendously bad day Esme is forced to reassess her life decisions and moves back home to her parents in Sandchester.

I absolutely loved this book, it is a story full of hope, determination and at times desperation. Esme’s antics will make you laugh throughout and leave you craving home baked chocolate cake. The descriptions are vivid and allow you to visualise her in the cosy kitchen in Mistletoe Cottage. Esme is a superb character brimming with personality who I would love to have as a friend, especially with her wonderful cooking skills. She is the friend everyone needs in their lives and her Mum is a full force of nature that will make you giggle.

A book full of love and laughter that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy, leaving you feeling you have a lost a friend in Esme when you reach the end. I devoured this book and whilst reading it looked forward to picking it up to keep reading, even forsaking chasing Daisy to get ready for school as I was so keen to keep reading.

Book Blurb

On a grey, London day, Esme’s world crumbles around her when she loses her glitzy job on a top TV programme, her gorgeous, city-slicker boyfriend and her stunning apartment, all in one fell swoop just before Christmas.

Esme is forced suddenly to move back to her sleepy hometown of Sandchester, and despite the snow blanketing the roof and the fairy lights that twinkle in her rustic little cottage, everything is looking bleak. That is until she reconnects with an old crush and finds herself unexpectedly getting swept away.

But Joe, handsome and charming as he is, is not all he seems. Esme soon realises that he has a tragic past which he just might not be able to overcome…

Surrounded by her loving, if harebrained, family and with the support of her hilarious friends, Esme is determined to have a go at forging her own path, even if it all comes to nothing. But one question still lingers in her mind: will she find someone to kiss under the mistletoe this Christmas?

#Review Today I am sharing my review for the lovely festive read Four Christmases and a Secret by Zara Stoneley #FourChristmasesandaSecret #FestiveRead #BlogTour #BackaBlogger @rararesources @zarastoneley

Four Christmases and a Secret

Today I am taking really excited to be taking part in the blog tour for Four Christmases and a Secret by Zara Stoneley.

OMG I absolutely loved this! Daisy is a character that I loved from the off, her rivalry and friendship with Ollie that has spurned since childhood and is reignited every Christmas as their parents compete over their achievements. Whilst Uncle T is the slightly eccentric Uncle everyone needs in their lives a beacon of light guiding the way and keeping everyone anchored together, with his annual Christmas eve parties.

This book is brimming with fantastic characters that you would love to attend a Christmas eve party with as they all bring a little something different to the lovely little bookshop each year. Daisy’s dog Stanley reminds me of my own dog, always on the hunt for food and cuddles.

I love Zara Stoneley’s books and I was really excited to hear that she had another book due for release before Christmas. Four Christmases and a Secret has just become my new favourite, it was a lovely story that draws you in and the last 40% flew by as I just had to keep reading as was loving how the story was unfolding. This was a book that I finished and then felt disappointed that I had read it so quickly as I had loved the characters so much. I love a festive read and this is a fab one to add to your pile to help you get in the Christmas spirit.

Book Blurb

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Except for Daisy Christmas means another of Uncle T’s dreaded Christmas parties, complete with Christmas jumper and flashing antlers.  And Oliver Cartwright.  Gorgeous Oliver Cartwright. Who she hates.

Every year Daisy has to face insufferable Ollie and hear all about how BRILLIANT he is.  Whereas Daisy has no job, no man and no idea how to fix things.

This Christmas however Daisy is determined things will be different.  There will be no snogging Ollie under the mistletoe like when they were teenagers.  No, this year she’ll show Ollie that she’s a Responsible Adult too.

But as the champagne corks pop, and the tinsel sparkles, Uncle T has news of his own to share…and it could change Daisy’s life forever…

Love the Smell of a Book’s – January Monthly Round Up

I have had a manic January, taking part in my first blog tours and cover reveals which has been really exciting and I would like to thank Rachel’s Random Resources for offering me places to take part.

I have read and reviewed 10 brilliant books in January and been lucky enough to read some memorable books over a variety of genres, which have made me laugh, cry and read passages aloud as I have loved them so much. I have also had the privilege to speak to some lovely authors about their books.

My 5* Read of the Month – Happiness for Beginners by Carole Matthews was my 5* read of the month which is due for release and the end of February, the eye catching cover won me over and I loved that it was based on a farm – click here for my full review

Most Memorable Read of the Month – Something to Live For by Richard Roper – I love having the chance to read a book by a new author and was fascinated and intrigued by Andrew and was keen to keep reading and learn about his story – full review to follow later this week.
