Wow another busy weekend for blog tours! Today I am excited to be sharing my review for A French Affair by Jennifer Bohnet #rachelsrandomresources #AFrenchAffair #BlogTour #BackaBlogger @rararesources @jenniewriter

Today is my stop on the blog tour for A French Affair by Jennifer Bohnet and what better way is there than to spend a Sunday relaxing whilst enjoying a wonderful trip to France.

A French Affair

My Review

I love it when you see an author you love pop up in your inbox with a new blog tour and I couldn’t wait to get a copy of the book so I could start reading.

A truly wonderful 5* read that immediately captured me, I loved meeting Belinda and following her story as she goes to Brittany to help turn a campsite around. Last year I visited a gorgeous campsite in rural France and this story reminded me of our visit and how much fun we had creating memories.

A stunning location that I instantly fell in love with and loved the descriptions of how run down the campsite had become and the plans to modernise it. Early in the story we met Alain and he played a key role in this story with his gruff personality and loyalty to the campsite.

A story rich in wonderful characters that all bring something different to the table and who you want to keep reading about as you have become invested in their happiness. I shed a few tears during this story as there were some emotional highs and lows throughout.

Set against the back drop of a wonderful location with a whole cast of amazing characters there wasn’t anything I didn’t love about this story!

Book Blurb

What will be will be…

Belinda Marshall’s idyllic teenage life in Brittany, France, fell apart when her parents dramatically separated and her mother took her back
to England.

Fast forward thirty-five years when Belinda’s world is once again turned upside down.
It’s the week before Christmas and Belinda’s employer ‘surprises’ her by asking for her help to rejuvenate their latest investment, a run-down campsite in Brittany.
Memories and anxieties that had lain dormant for years suddenly begin to resurface.
As secrets from a lost life threaten to overwhelm her, there is a realisation that maybe she wasn’t told the whole truth by her mother all those years ago.

Can Belinda reconcile her emotions and find happiness once more in the place she so loved and called home?

It’s the weekend and I am kicking off with a review for Dear Emmie Blue by Lia Louis #backablogger #dearemmieblue @lisforlia @orionbooks

It’s the weekend and what better way than to kick it off with a review for this gorgeous read Dear Emmie Blue, I love reading books by Lia Louis and this was simply wonderful to read.

Screenshot 2020-08-07 at 11.30.18

My Review

I picked up this book after reading some wonderful reviews and oh what a gorgeous read it is. Emmie Blue is a wonderful character who is so desperate to fall in love and be loved but still haunted by memories of a particular night at school that
occurred years before.

The concept of the story and how Emmie released her red balloon won my heart instantly. I loved the friendship dynamics between Luke, Eliot & Emmie and how as the story unfolded you learnt more about the brothers and the wonderful way Emmie came into their lives.

This story is set between a town local to me in England and France, it is full of love and hope and one that I loved reading from beginning to end. By the last page even I was a little in love with the lovely Eliot and hoped he would also get his happy ending as they all prepared to move onto the next stage of their lives.

Book Blurb

Emmie Blue has a secret…

A long time ago, Emmie Blue released a red balloon with a secret message hidden inside – and against all odds, across hundreds of miles of ocean, it was found on a beach in France by a boy called Lucas.

Fourteen years later, on the eve of her thirtieth birthday, Emmie hopes that Lucas is finally about to kiss her. She never expected him to announce that he was marrying someone else!

Suddenly Emmie’s dreams are shattered and the one person in her life she can rely on is slipping through her fingers. But what if Lucas isn’t her forever? What if her love story is only just beginning…

Don’t miss the love story that everyone is talking about this summer! Perfect for fans of Beth O’Leary, Josie Silver and Cecelia Ahern.

What better way to kick off the week than with a book that I loved cover to cover. Today I am sharing my review for The Saturday Morning Park Run by Jules Wake #rachelsrandomresources #blogtour #backablogger @rararesources @juleswake

Happy Monday everyone!! I am kicking off the week with my review for The Saturday Morning Park Run.

My Review

A lovely read that took me on a wonderful journey. Claire reminded me of how I felt 5 years ago when work began to overrun my life and my health. I think this made the journey more heartfelt as I kept reading, as I could really connect with the character.

Jules Wake created characters that resonated, the experiences were relatable and I loved the way they were described so you could visualise as you kept reading. I personally have a soft spot for our older generation so instantly fell in love with the formidable Hilda and would adore her as a friend to sit and have coffee and cake with.

There is nothing not to love about this book it breathes love and how it’s never too late to make changes to your priorities. I loved it from start to finish, a total breath of fresh air with a touch of romance sprinkled throughout.

Book Blurb

This is the story of two women.

One old, one young.

One looking for new adventures. One looking for a purpose.

Both needing a friend.

And this is how, along with two little girls in need of a family, a gorgeous stranger, and a scruffy dog, they bring the whole community together every Saturday morning for love, laughter and a little bit of running…(well, power walking).

Some people come into your life when you need them the most.

Lucy’s Great Escape (Little Duck Pond Cafe Series) by Rosie Green

Today I am sharing my review for the next book in the wonderful Little Duck Pond Cafe series – Lucy’s Great Escape. I am really enjoying reading this light hearted series and hope my review captures your imagination and encourages you to grab a copy!

Lucys Great Escape

My Review

I am absolutely loving this series by Rosie Green and loved revisiting Pengully Sands. In this book we spend time with Lucy who is still reeling from the loss of her Mum, we met her briefly in the last book and now get to know what bought her to that chance meeting with Madison.

A story that pulled me in from the offset and made me want to keep reading, it was a book that portrayed manipulative personalities really well and the effects they can have on a person over a period of time.

Lucy is a wonderful character who I instantly warmed too, with her great love of Effie her campervan and amazing talent with watercolours I was routing for her from the off and hated seeing her being taken advantage of. I love it when a book has the ability to make you sad, angry or even happy on the characters behalves as the more you feel for the characters the more invested you become in what is going to happen next.

A wonderful addition to the Little Duck Pond Cafe Series and I can’t wait to read the next one as it sounds fab and really cosy!

Book Blurb

Lucy never wanted to abandon her friends and family, and travel to the other side of the country to start a new life. And all without telling anyone where she was going. But these are desperate times. And finding herself with a nightmare of a dilemma, fleeing her home town seems like the only way she can protect herself and those she loves.

The Cornish town of Pengully Sands holds happy childhood memories for Lucy and seems the perfect place to escape to, although having little money and no friends, life at first seems grim.

But a chance meeting with Madison and the rest of the Little Duck Pond Café girls, plus a decidedly attractive local guy who won’t take no for an answer, gives Lucy a glimmer of hope for the future. Could she really settle in Pengully Sands and make a living by selling her watercolours?

But just as life is starting to look a little rosier, it becomes clear that someone back home – the last person she ever wanted to see – has tracked her down…

About the Author

Rosie has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then, they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all – unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love. Rosie’s Little Duck Pond Cafe series of novellas is centred around life in a village cafe. Each book can be read as a stand-alone story. The latest, ‘Lucy’s Great Escape’, is out now. Watch out for further tales of the Little Duck Pond Cafe, including the delicious ‘Log Fires & Toffee Apple Cake’, which will be published in autumn 2020.

It’s the weekend and I am delighted to be sharing my review for Wedding Bells at Merriment Bay by Emily Harvale

Happy Saturday everyone, today I am excited to be sharing my review for Wedding Bells at Merriment Bay, which is the last book in this series. I have loved getting to know these wonderful characters and hope you all pick up a copy to read after reading my review.

Wedding Bells in Merriment Bay

My Review

This week I have binge read Emily Harvale and loved it, I love the characters in the Merriment Bay and Wyntersleap series and the crossover has been really well written with exact wording mirroring on a couple of occasions.

If you are looking for a light hearted read then I recommend this series and it can be read as a standalone series or alongside the Wyntersleap books. Emily has a wonderful way with words that make you smile as you read, she writes with passion for her characters and uses little details to add that little bit extra which helps you visualise what she is describing and the feelings and emotions she is conveying in her characters.

In this story we spend more time with Cat & Kyra as they both fall in love and pack up their old lives. Mary is considering selling Devon Villa and finding herself somewhere else to settle and forge a new path for herself with Cat & Kyra now back in her life.

I feel I have gotten to know these characters and have loved reading about them and their adventures. A highly enjoyable series and I am already excited to read what Emily releases next.

Book Blurb

Change is in the air as wedding bells ring out in Merriment Bay

Cat’s determined to propose to Amias. Well, it is a leap year so it’s fine for women to do the asking, and besides, it took him eighteen years to tell her how he felt. She’s not going to wait for him to pop the question. All she needs to do is find the perfect time and place.

Kyra’s fallen for Francis Raine, who seems happy to flirt and exchange banter but hasn’t actually asked her out. Does he reciprocate her feelings, or is he this way with every girl he meets? There’s only one way to find out. She’ll ask him on a date … as soon as he returns to Merriment Bay.

Mary’s leaving Devon Villa after a lifetime spent in the house. She’s never lived alone so it’s both an exciting and a terrifying prospect. But change is good, isn’t it? Perhaps it’s time she tried a few other new things too.

The Devon women want to move on to the next chapters in their lives. And as Viola Devon used to say before she died, “The only one who can write your own life story as you want it, is you.” Although Viola’s didn’t work out too well. Will Cat, Kyra, and Mary have better luck with theirs?

Happy Monday, today I have a wonderful review to kick the week off. I am reviewing the final story in the Wyntersleap Series – A Wedding at Wynter House by Emily Harvale

Today I am very excited to be helping kick off the blog tour for A Wedding at Wynter House which is the final book in the wonderful Wyntersleap series.

My Review

I have loved reading the Wyntersleap series and really enjoyed the crossover with Merriment Bay and how the stories run alongside eachother.

Each of the books in this series has made me smile and provided me with a pick me up. I laughed out loud at points during this book as insecurities come to light and relationships from the past come back to haunt people. A lovely story brimming with love, joy and a few tears, with characters old and new arriving at Wynter House in the lead up to the launch of the gin distillery. All systems are definitely a go in this book and there may even be a wedding amongst the chaos. A very fitting conclusion to this series, although I am sad that I won’t get to spend more time with these characters as they now feel like family.

Since reading these books I have become a massive fan of Emily Harvale as she has a wonderful way with words. I recommend reading this series and visiting the stunning Wynter House and it’s wonderful residents, a series guaranteed to leave you feeling upbeat in these uncertain times.

Book Blurb

Not everyone at Wynter House is thrilled about this wedding.

Secrets have been revealed and new relationships begun. Now it’s time to look to the future. Neva and Rafe are in love and so are Adam and Hazel. Jo’s love life leaves a lot to be desired, although Gavin could remedy that.

But Rafe’s grandmother, Olivia still hopes that something will tear Rafe and Neva apart. Hazel’s new assignment means nursing someone back to health … and there’s history between them. And Jo’s receiving texts from her ex-fiancé.

Then Rafe’s first wife, Pippa – the woman who broke his heart, unexpectedly arrives. And she’s even more beautiful and irresistible than Rafe remembers.

When everyone is looking to the future, will the past prove to be too strong?

There will be a wedding at Wynter House … but who will be the bride and groom?

Today I am delighted to be sharing my review for A Sunset in Sydney where we get to meet the wonderful Sarah again from One Summer in Santorini.

My Review

I loved One Summer in Santorini last year when I read it and was eager to read this next instalment and see where Sarah is at in her love triangle with Josh & James.

A book based between London, Maui, Sydney and New Zealand. I loved the choice of locations used and the beauty of each destination. The descriptions were vivid so I could picture the scenery at each location, reading this book was like a glorious holiday with the authors love for travel apparent throughout the book.

I enjoyed reading about the relationships between the three main characters and how they progress as the adventures for Sarah continue. This is the perfect sun lounger book and I made the most of reading this whilst we experienced glorious sunshine.

A brilliant trip to Sydney which I thoroughly enjoyed and kept me entertained from beginning to end.

Book Blurb

First up today I am sharing my review for the wonderful 5* read – Finding Love at Hedgehog Hollow by Jessica Redland #blogtour #hedgehoghollow #rachelsrandomresources @rararesources @jessicaredland @boldwoodbooks

Today is my stop on the blog tour for Finding Love at Hedgehog Hollow, the title caught my attention and when I read the blurb I was really looking forward to reading it. Jessica Redland is a new author to me and I can’t wait to read more of her books as this book was simply wonderful.

My Review

I loved this book from the first few chapters, Sammie was a superb main character who always looked after those around her and tried her best to remain upbeat and positive.

Hedgehog Hollow is my absolute dream home, a farmhouse with barns and the description of the meadow made me fall in love with it instantly, for me it’s a perfect setting and I could instantly conjure it up in my imagination.

A gorgeous book about love and hope, that made me laugh, feel indignant and want to cry. Hedgehogs are wonderful animals and whilst reading I was transported back in time to memories of when I first saw them in my garden as a child.

This book was like a giant hug, I absolutely loved it and was so disappointed to be nearing the end that I wanted to stop reading as I felt connected to the characters and story and didn’t want it to end! This was my first book by Jessica Redland and I am delighted to have found a wonderful new author and am excited to read more of her books.

Book Blurb

Join me today for a trip to Cornwall and check out my review for Summertime at the Cornish Confetti Agency by Daisy James #backablogger #daisyjames #blogtour #rachelsrandomresources @rararesources @daisyjamesbooks

Today I am very excited to be sharing my review for Summertime at the Cornish Confetti Agency. I have loved reading books by Daisy James for many years and am thrilled to share my review today.

My Review

I do love a book by Daisy James and this book combines a brilliant author, in a beautiful location and with the ultimate role of making sure a wedding goes off without a hitch.

Lexie had the odds stacked against her as random pranks are played against the obnoxious best man who appears to have no sense of humour and is intent on rubbing everyone up the wrong way.

So amongst planning the wedding she is trying to ensure that nothing else happens that could pose a problem to Dylan & Kay’s dream wedding.

A wonderful read that I really enjoyed, this book had great characters and I loved the descriptions and theme behind the dream wedding. A totally inspired idea that was easy to visualise as it all came together.

A book that grabs your attention so you just want to hide away and read uninterrupted for a few hours.

Book Blurb

It’s Summertime at The Cornish Confetti Agency!

When Lexie Harrington is asked to co-ordinate Kat and Dylan’s ‘English village fête’ wedding, she’s determined that this time everything will go according to her carefully laid plans; no ice bucket challenges, no whoopee cushions, and absolutely no googly eyes attached to everything in sight!

With gorgeous journalist-cum-wedding columnist Theo Barker to offer a helping hand, Lexie is optimistic that she can deliver the fairy tale wedding her clients have always dreamed of…. until the best man Noah is targeted by a loose hosepipe, the wedding rings go walk-about, and his beloved scarlet Porsche takes on a distinctly unpleasant aroma.

Can Lexie and Theo uncover what’s behind the mysterious goings on, or will the Cornish Confetti Agency be forced to close its doors to the future brides and grooms of glorious Cornwall?

I am very excited to be sharing my review today for Summer Strawberries at Swallowtail Bay by Katie Ginger #backablogger #blogtour #swallowtailbay @rararesources @katiegauthor

I love it when you click with an author and I love reading books by Katie Ginger as they are always light hearted which is the perfect read right now. Today I am sharing my review for her new release Summer Strawberries at Swallowtail Bay.

My Review

I loved my first trip to Swallowtail Bay and was very excited to see the second book in the series advertised.

I love the location of the book, set along the Kent coast in a fictional town with the countryside just a stone throw away. I love living close to the sea and it really brings the setting to life with the thrum of the chatter on the beaches on a sunny day and seagulls lurking, these scenes are picture perfect.

In this story we get to know Hetty who has her own business as an events organiser and is looking for a way to branch out and create more business. This is how she comes to meet John who lives in a rundown house that is always in need of maintenance with its sprawling fields and and the gorgeous scent of roses in the gardens.

I loved the details of the planning for the event as I read and the new relationships we were introduced too, as well as revisiting some of the lovely characters who we had initially met in our first trip to Swallowtail Bay.

A wonderful second visit to the gorgeous seaside town where you get to know more wonderful characters. An absolutely pleasure to read, I loved delving into these pages and was smiling as I reached the end.

Book Blurb

Grab your strawberries and cream and get ready to return to the beautiful Swallowtail Bay!

Summer is in full swing and the locals are getting excited for the launch of the Swallowtail Bay strawberry food festival. But will all run smoothly when festival organiser Hetty’s heart is torn between lord of the manor John Thornhill and successful bakery owner Ben?
