Lets kick off this relaxing Sunday with a review for One Summer in Monte Carlo by Jennifer Bohnet

I love reading books by Jennifer Bohnet and jumped at the chance to read One Summer in Monte Carlo for the blog tour and to immerse myself in some wonderful escapism.

My Review

One Summer in Monte Carlo was a perfect read to transport me away, I love how Jennifer Bohnet uses such wonderful locations in the books and in this one you see us head off to Monte Carlo for F1 season.

The story was full of vivid descriptions right down to the noise and and thrills associated with F1 on this street made circuit. Through the descriptions of the hustle and bustle you really got a feel for the jubilant atmosphere and the parties held to celebrate this major event in the calendar.

Whilst in one half of this story we are with Nanette and the twins in Monte Carlo reliving her tragedy from 3 years previously. On the other side of the world Vanessa & Ralph are embarking on married life in the depths of the Amazon filming a documentary to try and help raise awareness to the shifts in how the small villages live and how the environment is impacting this.

I loved the two very different destinations and the totally different vibes you get when reading about them. I found I flew through this book, it was light hearted and provided some wonderful and much needed escapism.

Another wonderful story by Jennifer Bohnet, grab yourself a copy and enjoy the rest of your day curled up and enjoying the fast moving pace of Monte Carlo.

Book Blurb

Monte Carlo means different things to different people; a billionaires playground, overflowing with glitz and glamour but also where dangerous secrets hide.

For Nanette Weston, and her then fiancé, F1 racing driver Zac Ewart, their dream life came to an abrupt halt 3 years ago following a car accident which Zac walked away from, but left Nanette being airlifted back to the UK, never to return and never to see her fiancé again.

Monte Carlo was a place she wanted to forget, not revisit. But when her friend and employer, Vanessa asks Nanette to look after her children in the Principality for a few months, Nanette knew she had no choice but to return.

As the F1 circus once again comes to town, with Zac in pole position, mistakes of the past, leave legacies for the future…

Today I am delighted to be joining the blog tour for The Lake House by Christie Barlow

I am very excited to share my review for The Lake House as I am loving the Love Heart Lane series and couldn’t wait to revisit these wonderful characters again and meet some new ones!

My Review

Sometimes you just need a light hearted read and as always Christie Barlow managed to whisk me away to the wonderful Heartcross. Ella has had a rough few months and the move to Heartcross with her best friend soon has Ella getting back on her feet.

I loved catching up with the wonderful residents of Heartcross, I think in the world we currently live in the fictional world Christie Barlow has created is exactly what we all need a dose of. I live in a village and just love the community spirit that oozes from the pages and the wonderful friendships she has created. I genuinely wish this was a real place as I would love to go and visit and stay at the Lake House after reading this.

Another wonderful read by Christie Barlow that I would highly recommend grabbing a copy of and snuggling down to read on these cold winter evenings.

Book Blurb

There’s a newcomer to the village of Heartcross and she’s never been more in need of a friend.  Ella is ready to start afresh ––and that could mean there’s love on the horizon in the form of the gorgeous Roman, the local water taxi driver. Every day Roman is there to ferry Ella to the restaurant on the other side of the lake and every night he makes sure she gets home safe. But Roman has secrets of his own…

Can the Love Heart Lane community offer Ella a chance of a new life? Or will the ghosts of her past catch up with her?

My last review prior to Christmas is for this beauty bursting with superheroes and Chrismas spirit – One Snowy Week in Springhollow by Lucy Knott @theblossomtwins

I am a massive fan of Lucy’s books since I stumbled across her first release and have been so excited to read this years festive story.

My Review

From the offset as soon as superheroes were mentioned I fell in love with Scarlett and Devon, we love everything Marvel and DC in our house as this story oozed superheroes and comic strips.

Scarlett is a character who has had a tough time due to bullying throughout school and a controlling mother and this story really jumped off the pages. I think at times we have all been a bit lost as to who we are as a person and been tempted to bend to peer pressure rather than stay true to ourselves. Throughout this story I could feel the infectiousness of her personality and it made me desperate to keep reading to see if she could find the traits of her personality she had buried 10 years ago.

A wonderful story by Lucy that combined her massive love of superheroes with a wonderful heartfelt story set in the lead up to Christmas. A story that makes you want to curl up with a peppermint coffee and just keep reading as you gain attachments to the characters and want to see everyone’s dreams coming true. This book would make a wonderful Hallmark Christmas film, I loved it and was desperate to keep reading but didn’t want to reach the end in equal measures as I will truly miss Scarlett, Devon, Hope and Jess.

Book Blurb

When old friends return, sparks ignite this Christmas in Springhollow…

Tomboy Scarlett thought Devon would be her best friend forever. He was the only person in Springhollow who supported her ambitious artist dreams. But then one winter, Devon and his parents disappear without warning to start a new life in NYC and a devastated Scarlett is left alone to face her high-school bullies and overbearing mother.

Fast-forward ten years: Scarlett is playing it safe in her childhood village with a dull PA job and a wardrobe that passes her mother’s old-fashioned standards. Meanwhile, Devon is a Hollywood heartthrob, starring in the latest superhero blockbuster. And he’s finally coming home for Christmas…

Scarlett can’t help blaming her former best friend for the way her life has turned out, but Devon’s cheeky charm and gorgeous smile prove difficult to resist. Devon always did make her feel on top of the world, but Scarlett knows her heart isn’t racing just because she has her friend back – is it mistletoe madness, or is she seeing Devon in a completely new light?

Scarlett hasn’t taken a risk in years… but this Christmas of second chances could finally be her time to shine.

With Christmas fast approaching, I am delighted to be sharing my review for a book that should definitely be on your Christmas list – The Spark by Jules Wake

I have previously read and loved books by Jules Wake and jumped at the chance to squeeze this one in as one of my last reviews of 2020 and what a book to wind up the year with!

My Review

What a corker of a read, I always love a book by Jules Wake and this was exactly the type of read I needed right now. Once I had picked up this book I quickly grew to love Jess and her pessimistic character when it comes to love. She is an independent woman who is content with her friends and spending time with her aunt and uncle until she bumps into Sam at a family BBQ.

A story to take you on a roller coaster of emotions that will make you laugh and cry as you read. Jess hasn’t had an easy childhood and as we get to know her better and learn more about her past traumas the more we get to understand her outlook on life and why she sometimes holds back from those around her.

The Spark is one of those books that you are desperate to keep reading, I found myself reading even when I knew I should be doing other jobs. I just had to find out how the initial spark between Jess & Sam works out and needed to know if it will be the disaster that Jess is expecting or will she get the happily ever after her Mum is so set against.

Book Blurb

Jess is falling for Sam.

Sam is falling for Jess.

But it seems life will do whatever it takes to make them fall apart.

When Jess and Sam lock eyes at a party, a spark ignites. The spark. But love at first sight isn’t like the movies, especially when Sam’s ex, Victoria, is determined to make their honeymoon period a living hell.

Is love at first sight enough?

Step into the wonderful Lisbon whilst on jump on the blog tour for The Villa of Dreams by Lucy Coleman

Today I am delighted to be transported back to Lisbon whilst sharing my review for the wonderful The Villa of Dreams by Lucy Coleman.

My Review

In a year where we can’t travel freely for our holidays, books like this are the perfect escapism we all need. I loved being transported to Lisbon with Seren as she embarked on her new life at the gallery.

A story of passion, love and hope, I loved how Lucy bought Lisbon to life on the pages with the bright and vibrant descriptions for both the scenery and the mouth watering food. I truly felt like I had stepped off the plane and was soaking up the atmosphere around me.

The insight into the art work and how the art was being transformed for the fashion show was visual and demonstrated the wonderful descriptions throughout this story. The culture of Lisbon was well represented and this has made me keen to visit and soak it all up first hand after enjoying this light hearted read. A highly recommended read from an author who always offers a story set in a wonderful location.

Book Blurb

Seren Maddison left behind a rainy Britain to follow her dreams and live and work in Lisbon. The vibrancy, the beautiful scenery and the sunshine, made her fall in love and she knew, instantly, that it would be her forever home.

International artist Reid Henderson has homes in Lisbon and London. Following his painful divorce, his dream is to turn his luxurious home into an art school and gallery.

When Seren and Reid first meet there is an instant attraction, but they are both people who have been hurt, and each have dreams that are so far apart, they aren’t even on the same page.

Can they enjoy one summer of happiness together, as life bestows a gift of memories to cherish for the rest of their lives? Or is their destiny to chart a path into the future, in a home where dreams can come true?

Seren and Reid may be about to discover that love is as much about what you are prepared to give up, as what you are prepared to keep hold of.

Let Lucy Coleman transport you away to sun-drenched Portugal where true love really can conquer all, and home is where the heart is. Perfect for all fans of Trisha Ashley, Holly Martin and Sue Moorcroft.

Today I am delighted to share my review for this foodie delight – The Chocolate Box by Isabella May

On this bleak and miserable Tuesday I am very excited to be jumping on the blog tour for the latest foodie delight by Isabella May.

My Review

I love books by Isabella May as not only do they feature a strong food theme, they always take you somewhere your not quite expecting. This story started off giving you the background of Eleanor as a girl and fills in some backstory as to how she became the Ellie we meet further down the line.

A story focused around a delectable box of chocolates which are the sweet in the story with the sour that goes alongside them through the rivalry and a more sinister side that is exposed as the story progresses. I found this is a story that built in momentum as I read, it started off slower paced as you gained insight to Eleanor and then as her plan is revealed the pace of the story really sped up and I just had to keep reading.

Yet again a great story from a wonderful author, that was totally different to what I was expecting. Guaranteed that once you start this journey with Ellie, Barnaby, Clementine and Brooke you wont want to put the book down until all the chocolates have been consumed.

Book Blurb

Ellie Sanchez wants revenge. Spurned during her school days at prestigious Monty’s academy when she was plain Eleanor Finch, and played second fiddle to her idol, Barnaby Westwood, and his show-off sister, Clementine, Ellie will stop at nothing to turn the tables now she’s all grown up. The siblings and their snubbing have been the catalyst for everything that’s gone wrong in her life, from parental neglect to her divorce.

When the Westwood travel merchandise company advertises for a new HR manager, Ellie decides her unique combo of karma and Law of Attraction has finally come good. And she’ll be bagging herself a cherry-on-the-cake, second, and richer, husband in the process – once Barnaby sees how much she’s changed, anyway.

Fast forward two years and he STILL doesn’t recognise her!

Fast forward two years and the company is in a financial mess.

Last Chance Saloon-style, Ellie coerces the siblings and their older sister, Brooke (the perpetual spanner in her works) to a rustic gîte in Normandy for a spot of team-building… over a very ‘special’ box of artisan chocolates.

Cue ALL the fireworks in the cocoa bean version of Jumanji…

Today we are paying another visit to the Little Duck Pond Cafe series and I am sharing my review for A Kiss in the Snow by Rosie Green

I love a festive read and what better way to start a Saturday morning than with a nice festive review as part of the blog blitz for A Kiss in the Snow.

My Review

I am loving the Little Duck Pond Cafe books and in this story we spend time with Carrie and enjoy a pre Christmas break when she decides she needs to get away for a few days. This is one of my favourite books from the series so far, it was brimming with love, kindness and hope, the story just ran away with me as I was so keen to keep reading.

Carrie is a wonderful character who isn’t used to being the centre of attention being the quieter twin and I loved getting to know her and her handsome house guest . I found myself laughing and cringing as I read and my heart broke a little as well. I love a cute picture perfect village and this story painted a wonderful village life with its little shop that sold everything. I was quickly consumed by village life and the friendships that Carrie struck up with the locals and just wanted to keep reading. A wonderful festive read, brimming with positivity, kindness, traditions and snow!

Book Blurb

After a cruel twist of fate sends her hurtling into a black hole of despair, Carrie is absolutely dreading the festive season – especially with sister, Krystle, being even more demanding of her time and energy than usual. But then friend Maddy offers Carrie a lifeline: the chance to get away from it all in a holiday cottage in the gorgeous little village of Silverbells. Deciding that a few weeks of tranquillity – reading, baking and going for long walks in the countryside – might just restore her mood, Carrie is quick to take up the offer. But on arriving, it very soon becomes clear that this break is going to be anything but peaceful!

An unwelcome houseguest proves unsettling enough – especially one who whistles loudly first thing in the morning and is far too cheerful for his own good – but finding herself drawn into the spooky mystery of her missing neighbour means there really isn’t much time for personal reflection. And then love comes knocking, and Carrie is forced to decide exactly where her heart lies.

Will this festive season be the disaster Carrie predicted? Or will Santa be good to her and deliver her heart’s desire? One thing’s for sure – this will be a Christmas Carrie will never, ever forget…

Rosie has been scribbling stories ever since she was little.

Back then, they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’.

Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all – unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.

Her series of novellas is centred around life in a village cafe. The latest, ‘Lucy’s Great Escape’, is out now.

Rosie will be revisiting the Little Duck Pond Café with a beautiful story of love and friendship at Christmas time, entitled A Kiss in the Snow, out in October 2020.

Today I am very excited to share my review for the romantic read – One Kiss Before Christmas by Emma Jackson

I love reading books by a new author and jumped at the chance to read this festive read by Emma Jackson.

My Review

A story set against the backdrop of Paris and the wonderful seaside town of Brighton. The descriptions were vivid and jumped off of the pages for the places Olivier & Ashleigh were visiting, they really bought the location to life. We love visiting Brighton and it homes our favourite Sealife Centre which is affectionately referred to in this story.

Olivier has returned to see his Maman for Christmas and is expecting to actually get a few days rest. Whilst Ashleigh is donning her elf costume again as she works in the lead up to Christmas. I love how these lovely characters had known eachother in their teens and are randomly thrown together again in a series of events and trips planned by friends to help them get to know eachother and reconnect as friends.

A festive read full of romance, laughter and fun with some tears sprinkled like confetti amongst the pages. I loved this story from beginning to end and was so disappointed when real life got in the way and I had to put my book down. I loved the magic that was scattered across the pages of this heartwarming story.

Book Blurb

A gorgeously romantic festive read from the author of A Mistletoe Miracle, guaranteed to warm your heart this Christmas!

Could it be the start of her happy ever after?

Ashleigh could use a little Christmas magic. She’s still living in Brighton with her Nan — who could give the Grinch lessons in how to be miserable — her acting career has been reduced to playing one of Santa’s elves, and not even the prospect of a friend’s winter wedding can cheer her up…

That is until Olivier, the gorgeous French chef, reappears in her life. Or more accurately, next door.

When they were teenagers, Olivier would spend every other Christmas with his mother, who just happens to be Ash’s neighbour and owner of the best chocolate shop in England.

If anyone can bring a little sparkle back to Ash’s life, it’s Olivier. All she needs is one kiss before Christmas…

Feel-good and festive, this is the perfect romance to curl up with this winter!

On this chilly Sunday morning I’m getting well and truly into the Christmas spirit sharing my review for Christmas at Aunt Elsie’s by Emily Harvale #rachelsrandomresources #blogblitz #backablogger #festiveread @rararesources @emilyharvale

All this talk of Christmas and making my festive range of wax melts has got me well and truly into the festive spirit, so I was very excited to dive into this festive treat.

My Review

I love reading books by Emily Harvale and this one has been on my kindle since it arrived on publication day and I’ve been so excited to pick it up. Back in the summer I took my first trip to Seahorse Harbour and met Aunt Elsie and I loved curling up to enjoy this festive read.

I love that Emily Harvale often writes a few books featuring the same characters and Lottie & Merry arrival in this story are excellent additions to those we met in the summer.

A wonderful festive read that will have you reaching for the brandy to lace your hot chocolate and pulling out your supplies to make mince pies. This story oozed Christmas festivities set against a wonderful seaside view.

I really hope there will be another visit to these wonderful characters as I loved this story!

Book Blurb

A distant relative. A blizzard. A Christmas of surprises.

Lottie Short isn’t looking forward to Christmas. Her boyfriend has dumped her and she’s also lost her job. Lottie and her beloved spaniel, Merry, are facing the festive season – and a bleak future, alone.

But a Christmas card and round-robin letter give Lottie hope. And as the first snowflakes fall, she’s on her way to the tiny seaside village of Seahorse Harbour to visit her distant aunt. She’ll stay in a cosy B&B and get some bracing, sea air. That might lift her spirits.

What she doesn’t plan for is a blizzard, her aunt taking a fall, or the dramas unfolding all around her. But at least there’s a warm welcome at Aunt Elsie’s cottage … and a roaring log fire in the village pub.

That’s not all that might bring a rosy glow to Lottie’s cheeks. Asher Bryant, the local vet is pretty hot, and Lottie also hits it off with another visitor to Seahorse Harbour. This festive season might be better than she hoped.

And when Lottie gets more than one surprise this Christmas, perhaps she and Merry won’t be spending the New Year on their own.

This is book 2 in my new series of standalone novels set in the tiny, seaside village of Seahorse Harbour.

As we reach the end of the week I am very excited to share my review for a wonderful 5* festive read – Christmas at the Cornish Confetti Agency by Daisy James

I am a massive fan of Daisy James and am very excited to be jumping on the blog tour for this wonderful festive read.

My Review

OMG what a superb festive read, I’ve laughed and cried as I’ve lost myself between these magical pages and been transported to Cornwall alongside Lexie and her wonderful friends.

Daisy James is always an author I look forward to reading and this book did not disappoint. It was lovely to go back to Cornwall and get reacquainted with old favourites and meet a few new faces as Lexie plans her final Cornish wedding and pushes the thought of what she is going to do next to the back of her mind.

A jam packed story as the countdown is on to the final wedding which has a host of events in the lead up with a few mysteries along the way in true Cornish Confetti Agency style. I loved the wedding planning and the details that are included and how the friends all pull together. My favourite event in this book was the planning for the fashion show and this made me feel emotional, it was written with such passion and affection I could feel the emotions of these wonderful characters.

I loved reading this story and will miss the wonderful characters that made me laugh and cry throughout. A festive masterpiece packed with activities to really get you in the spirit of Christmas.

Book Blurb

It’s Christmas at The Cornish Confetti Agency!

When Lexie Harrington is asked to choreograph Phoebe and Sam’s Christmas-themed wedding, she can’t wait to create the perfect winter wonderland – elegantly dressed fir trees, glossy garlands of holly and mistletoe, baskets of yule logs and pine cones, and the mouth-watering fragrance of gingerbread, cinnamon sticks and warm mulled wine floating through the air.

With handsome wedding columnist-cum-fledgling scriptwriter Theo Barker at her side, she’s confident that she can create the perfect festive ambience the bride and groom have been dreaming of since their engagement in the Swiss Alps; no rampant hosepipes, no mechanical mice, no confetti-filled hairdryers.

But this is The Cornish Confetti Agency, and the words ‘plain-sailing’ and ‘hassle-free’ do not feature in the promotional brochure. So, when a much-loved portrait of the groom’s father is adorned with pirate eye-patches and black plastic moustaches, and his expensive cologne is switched for toilet cleaner, Lexie and Theo must once again don their metaphorical deerstalkers and unravel the mystery before the wedding dissolves into Christmas-themed chaos and calamity.

A perfect Christmas wedding?
Is there such a thing for The Cornish Confetti Agency?

A glittery, feel-good story perfect for the festive season, and the third book in The Cornish Confetti Agency series.

Available to purchase Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com

Meet Daisy James

Daisy James loves writing stories with strong heroines and swift-flowing plotlines. She especially likes to create sunshine-filled settings in exotic locations – the Caribbean, Tuscany, Cornwall, Provence – so she can spend her time envisioning her characters enjoying the fabulous scenery and sampling the local food and drink.

When not scribbling away in her peppermint-and-green summerhouse (garden shed), she spends her time sifting flour and sprinkling sugar and edible glitter. She loves gossiping with friends over a glass of something fizzy or indulging in a spot of afternoon tea – china plates and teacups are a must.
