I love kicking off a Sunday with a 5* review – Today I am sharing my review for Ice Creams at Emerald Cove by Holly Martin

I always jump at the chance to join the blog tour for a Holly Martin book and am delighted to share my review for her latest release Ice Creams at Emerald Cove.

My Review

I love a Holly Martin read and this book is my favourite so far from this series, I really enjoyed spending more time with Skye in her world of ice cream and sweet treats.

In previous stories we have met her sisters but this story is helping us get to know Skye & Jesse and spend some time with them on the island, as we read we get to know more about how their lives have been shaped up until now and see them form new bonds with eachother and those around them.

Whilst reading this book it made me laugh as I experienced the highs and lows of the characters, I am already so excited for the next book as lots of exciting things happened during this story and I want to see what comes next for these wonderful sisters.

A superb 5* read that transports you to a magical setting and takes you away from the madness of the world to your own little slice of heaven.

Book Blurb

Skye Philips and Jesse Hamilton have a complicated relationship. They’ve been neighbours, best friends and even briefly married. But ever since Skye returned to the beautiful shores of Jewel Island to help her sisters Aria and Clover run their family hotel, she doesn’t know where she stands with Jesse.

When they’re together the chemistry between them sizzles, but with Jesse living in Canada and Skye on the Cornish island she calls home, they’ve kept things casual. Till now…

Jesse is coming to Jewel Island for the annual Pudding Parade and Skye knows this is her chance to tell him how she really feels. But putting her heart on the line isn’t easy when it’s been broken in the past. Will Jesse return her love? Or will she lose him for good?

Everything she’s ever wanted can be hers if she’s willing to take the chance, but is Skye brave enough to risk her heart once again?’

Love kicking off a sunny day with a 5* review – The Greek Heart by Kate Frost

Let’s kick off this sunny Wednesday morning with a light hearted 5* read that transports you to the sunny Greek Islands.

My Review

My first read by Kate Frost and wow what a book to kick off with, I totally lost myself in this book and barely looked up as I just wanted to keep reading. I loved meeting Lottie and joining her on an adventure to the Greek Islands.

Lottie is an ambitious and successful business woman who after a failed marriage feels the need to take time and rediscover herself. This leads her to looking for someone she knew as a child and to the stunning coast of Santorini. This was one of those stories that puts massive ticks in every box, it was the perfect balance between light hearted and emotional, the location was stunning, the scene was set perfectly and as the reader all you need to do is sit back and lap it up.

I love to travel and I love travelling through books and this is a wonderful read that transports you so you can feel the sun on your skin and admire the wonderful views as Lottie sits and soaks them up. A story full of love and heartache, that transported me and left me smiling and filled my happy bucket to the brim. A highly recommended read for some well needed escapism.

Book Blurb

A broken heart, an island escape, a boy from the past. Will Lottie’s search lead to love?

When a special anniversary takes Lottie on a journey to find the little boy she once knew, it’s a chance to put heartache behind her.

Lottie’s search takes her to Greece and a family who have known about her for decades. A warm welcome gives her some much-needed time out and the chance to reflect. Yet an emotional revelation and two handsome but complicated brothers make her question her past decisions.

Learning to love herself and be content on her own is the first step. But will Lottie be able to follow her heart and find lasting happiness?

Happy Publication Day to the lovely TA Williams who releases Second Chances in Chianti today!!

I am very excited to be celebrating publication day for one of my favourite authors when it comes to escapism reads in wonderful locations.

My Review

I am loving the Escape to Tuscany series and am always excited to see this author is releasing a new book. His books always offer escapism as well as a wonderful insight into local history of the area and lots of exploration. I honestly feel like I have been on holiday, especially with the wonderful sunny locations we have been treated too recently and who doesn’t love Italian food. A perfect read for a cold and wet February afternoon to help add some vitamin D to my life.

In this story we meet Alice who has left the high life in America and returned to the UK to finish the degree she had previously started. We quickly gained her back story as to how she ended up in America and what she had been doing in life over the past 5 years, which is where her previous and her new life start to bleed together as she receives an invite to meet the cast members in Italy. A story packed with wonderful characters and the adorable Guiness who straight away I wanted to know more about. As you read you gain a wonderful insight into the varying relationships both personally and for the on screen characters. I found Alice a lovely down to earth character and I loved spending time with her exploring and sharing her love of history.

A book featuring a range of emotions, with both romantic and platonic relationships dotted throughout the story. A lovely light hearted read that I reached the end of far too quickly as I read into the evening after being captured by the story of the lovely Alice.

Book Blurb

Alice thought her future was set in stone, until her past came knocking…

Alice Butler starred in a successful US sitcom until tensions in the cast and crew caused the show to be cancelled. Now, five years later and working towards her dream job in art history, she’s called back for a revival of the show. It can only end in disaster, surely?

Flown to a villa in Chianti to meet with the rest of the cast, Alice must decide where her future lies – with her boyfriend, David, who laps up the Hollywood company, or with the mysterious Matt, who shies away from public attention?

I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing romantic comedy is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.

I very excited to be joining the blog tour for one of my favourite reads of the year so far – The Dog Sitter by Zara Stoneley

Today I am really excited to join the blog tour for the wonderful The Dog Sitter by Zara Stoneley

My Review

What is there not to love about this story!

Becky is a wonderful character whose had her confidence knocked and needs to recapture her energy and self belief from childhood, with this in mind she embarks on dog sitting the gorgeous Bella.

Set in a stunning location, I loved the wonderful walks and descriptions of the lakes. The energy of Bella was wonderful and reminded me of my springer spaniel also named Bella who is always ready to launch into full on zoomies.

There was a bit of everything in this story, a touch of romance, lots of laughter, exploration, adventure and a wonderful reminder to stop and appreciate your surroundings whilst conquering your fears and following your heart.

A highly recommended read that I’m already recommending to friends and family. The perfect story for any dog lover as the gorgeous Bella is the very essence of this wonderful story and will leave you smiling and feeling happy.

Book Blurb

One dog. Two strangers. An unfurgettable romance.

Wanted: someone nice, normal and trustworthy to housesit a beautiful cottage in the Lake District while the owner is away on a business trip. Must like dogs.

Wanting to escape from crap bosses and useless boyfriends, Becky jumps at the chance of being a dog sitter and the perfect escape – rest, relaxation and a very cute pooch called Bella.

But looking after Bella comes with a catch, namely gorgeous, brooding, Chris Hemsworth-worthy Ash James, who claims Bella is his dog and will stop at nothing to get her back!

Becky’s not about to hand over lovely Bella to any Tom, Dick or Ash.  She’s determined to watch every move Ash James makes…even if it gets her very hot under the collar.

Only When It’s Love by Olivia Spring

Today I am taking part in the Birthday Blitz for Only When It’s Love by Olivia Spring

My Review

I have only recently discovered Olivia Spring and this was another book that made it easy to curl up and keep reading.

Alex is a girl who needs a change after a series of failed dates and being ghosted on more than one occasion. So when her friend Stacy tells her about the book she read to help her find a deep and meaningful relationship she scoffs at first and then changes her mind.

I loved that the two men Alex dated during her challenge had such majorly different personalities and I quickly had one I despised and was keen to keep reading to see which direction Alex would choose.

A brilliant read for anyone who fancies a romantic read as this is a proper romcom of a story. Wonderfully written and enjoyable from beginning to end. I can’t wait to read the sequel as I loved the characters and want to see what comes next for Alex.

Book Blurb

Alex is tired of being single. After years of disastrous hook-ups and relationships that lead to the bedroom but nowhere else, Alex is convinced she’ll never find her Mr Right. Then her newly married friend Stacey recommends what worked for her: a self-help book that guarantees Alex will find true love in just seven steps. Sounds simple, right?

Except Alex soon discovers that each step is more difficult than the last, and one of the rules involves dating, but not sleeping with a guy for six months. Absolutely no intimate contact whatsoever. Zero. Nada. Rien. A big challenge for Alex, who has never been one to hold back from jumping straight into the sack, hoping it will help a man fall for her.

Will any guys be willing to wait? Will Alex find her Mr Right? And if she does, will she be strong enough to resist temptation and hold out for true love?

Join Alex on her roller coaster romantic journey as she tries to cope with the emotional and physical ups and downs of dating whilst following a lengthy list of rigid rules.

Only When It’s Love is a fun, feel-good, romantic comedy by British author Olivia Spring, about self-acceptance, determination, love and the challenge of finding the one.

The sequel, When’s The Wedding? will be published on 25th March 2021.

As the weekend fast approaches I am sharing my review for the comical – The Juggle by Emma Murray

Today I am jumping on the blog tour for a laugh out loud read that will brighten your day.

My Review

The Juggle is one of those books where you read the blurb and just know you are going to love it. Within the first few pages I knew I was going to really love Saoirse, she is the kind of Mum that I loved chatting to on the school run as she was much more down to earth and realistic. I laughed at her references to the organic mum’s who used their scooters to and from school as it was like stepping back in time to when my daughter started school.

A book packed full of great characters with tears of laughter and sadness throughout, this is a real insight into the battles you choose to pick with your children and how sometimes you don’t have the time and decide to settle for a quick win. Being a working parent is tough at times and it does require a lot of juggling and so much judgement is passed on parenting styles, rather than people just focusing on making their little humans as nice as possible.

This was my first book by Emma Murray but I loved it and I really hope we get to meet Saoirse and her family again as this story made me giggle throughout and I love a light hearted read.

Book Blurb

‘Clever, wise and achingly funny.’ Cathy Kelly

‘You can have it all,’ they said. ‘Happy children, happy marriage, great career – no problem,’ they said…

Mother-of-one Saoirse is just about holding it all together – combining part time work with the school run, while her husband David gets to focus on his career. But when David loses his job, everything has to change.

With no hesitation, Saoirse suggests she takes on the role of main breadwinner. After all, how hard can it be? And when a new client offers her a life-changing sum of money, Saoirse can look the other over-achieving Woodvale school-run mums in the eye with pride.

But there’s a problem with keeping too many balls in the air – eventually one is bound to drop. And when that happens – well, who knows what the consequences could be…

Laugh-out-loud funny, achingly relatable, but with a heart of gold, and warmth running through every page. This is the perfect read for anyone who has way too many balls in the air! The novel may or may not have been inspired by real life…

As we reach the end of the week, here is my review for Faking It by Portia Macintosh

Massive thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for the invitation to join this blog tour!

My Review

In a time where we all need a giggle this book is the perfect prescription.

I loved the storyline – I mean who wouldn’t want to imitate their sister and get a chance to see if the grass really is greener and what it is really like to be a wife and mother.

I laughed throughout this book, it is the sort of story to make you giggle out loud and smile as you read. Ella is a vibrant character who is the polar opposite to her twin sister Emma, so as soon as Emma reveals her plan you just know its going to be hilarious. Ella is fiesty and a much more impulsive person and as you read you begin to wonder if this is a part of her personality she can keep in check whilst she is living undercover as her sister.

A great read that I really enjoyed reading, the characters were great and I loved the scrapes that Ella got herself into and then tried to wiggle back out of. I love it when a book calls to you and I kept picking this back up at every opportunity to see what Ella was going to do or say next.

Book Blurb

The perfect house, the perfect husband and the perfect life… or is she just faking it?

Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster for Ella. Growing up as the ‘less successful’ identical twin to her ‘perfectly successful’ sister, Emma, has left her feeling isolated, inadequate and let’s face it.. a little bitter.

When Emma unexpectedly reaches out to Ella in a time of need, Ella suddenly finds herself with the opportunity to fill in for her sister and experience how the other half live.

But as Ella navigates the world of gossiping mothers, rebellious teens and trying to play the model housewife (not to mention avoiding the temptation of attractive men at the school gates…) will she discover that all is not always as it seems on the other side?

Happy Monday! Kicking the week off with a review for the superb The Little Swiss Ski Chalet by Julie Caplin

Today I am delighted to be sharing my review for the wonderful new release by Julie Caplin, a perfect read to provide a little escapism.

My Review

The Little Swiss Ski Chalet was a superb read that loved from beginning to end, I had been looking forward to curling up to read this between Christmas and New Year and it did not disappoint.

The location was absolutely perfect and I loved being transported away from the damp weather in Kent to the wonderful snow coated Swiss Alps. A story filled with love and amazing food, I love the way the author explores food in these stories and in this series I have learnt so much about different traditions in different countries. This time we got to explore Switzerland and learn more about their local dishes, chocolate and amazing cakes.

The Little Swiss Ski Chalet had a host of wonderful characters that I loved getting to spend time with. Mina was a great leading lady and I loved her relationship with her godmother as it reminded me of the treasured relationship between my daughter and her godmother.

A story that feels like a giant hug, the perfect feel good read to enjoy whilst snuggled under cosy blankets with a large mug of hot chocolate hiding away from the wet and miserable winter weather.

Book Blurb

It’s time to pack your bags and head to the breathtaking, snow-covered peaks of the Swiss Alps for velvety hot chocolates, delicious cheeses and a gorgeous love story…

Food technician Minna has always believed that chocolate will solve everything – and it’s just what she needs when her latest relationship mishap goes viral!

So with her bags packed and a new determination to sort her life out, Minna decides to drown her sorrows with the best hot chocolate in the world at her godmother’s cosy Swiss chalet. Chocolate: yes. Romance: no. Until she has a run in on an Alpine train with a mysterious but oh-so-gorgeous stranger…

Today I am so excited to be joining the blog tour for the wonderful The Memory Keeper by Jenny Hale

Today I am delighted to be joining the blog tour for The Memory Keeper by Jenny Hale, I have previously read and love Jenny Hale’s books and am delighted to be reviewing this for the very first blog tour for Harpeth Road Press.

My Review

I have previously loved books by Jenny Hale and this one might just be my new favourite. A story rich in all things family and friends, that is overflowing with love and support and is representative of exactly what we all need in our lives right now.

Hannah is a character I could empathise with instantly, she was career focused and driven and reminded me of myself on her passion and love for progression in her role. Early on she receives a phone call to advise her Grandmother has been taken ill and she returns home, where she starts to remember her roots and rediscover what is really important.

I laughed and cried as I read, I felt as though I had befriended these amazing characters and immersed myself in the vivid descriptions that make you feel like your standing beside Hannah as you read.

I flew through this book in just a few days despite being desperate to savour it but I couldn’t resist the lure of the next diary entry and seeing what Hannah would decide to do with her Grandmothers business.

A story that leaves your heart full and your cheeks damp with tears, it pulls on your emotions and really makes brings all the thoughts and feelings to life making it a true 5* read that will stay with me for a long time.

Book Blurb

From the USA Today bestselling author of The Summer House comes a story about finding lost loves, chasing dreams, and the people who show up when they’re needed the most. The Memory Keeper is the perfect escape for fans of Susan Mallery, Debbie Macomber, and Sheila Roberts.

Hannah Townsend’s life is just as she’s always wanted it to be. She has the perfect job at a New York magazine, a small but elegant apartment in the upper west side, and an incredibly successful beau named Miles Monahan. This year, for her thirty-fifth birthday, she’s leaving the icy city sludge for sunshine! She’s got tickets for two to Barbados, and she’s all packed and meeting Miles at the airport for a week of cocktails, sandy beaches, and the music of steel drums.

But her life is turned upside down in the span of that one morning. Hannah is rocked by the news that her beloved grandmother is very sick, and Hannah needs to come home to her small Tennessee town right away to be with her family and help run her gran’s dilapidated flower shop. It also means she has to face Ethan Wright, the best friend she’d left behind so many years ago. If that isn’t enough to deal with, she discovers her boyfriend is seeing someone else.

With flights grounded and rental cars in great demand due to the winter snowstorm, she’s stranded at the airport. On her birthday, instead of waking up in a stylish beachfront hotel in Miles’s arms like she thought, she finds herself packed like sardines into a car, with two passengers, on a ride-share from LaGuardia Airport to her hometown of Franklin, Tennessee.

When everything seems to be going wrong, it’s the kindness of a handsome businessman from Hannah’s past named Liam McGuire that might just save her. But a new development that threatens Gran’s shop and secrets surrounding Liam could alter both their lives forever.

Meet the Author

Jenny Hale is a USA Today, Amazon, and international bestselling author of romantic contemporary fiction. Her books have sold worldwide, have been translated into multiple languages, and adapted for television. Her novels Coming Home for Christmas and Movie Guide Epiphany Award winner Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses are Hallmark Channel original movies. She was included in Oprah Magazine’s “19 Dreamy Summer Romances to Whisk You Away” and both Southern Living’s “30 Christmas Novels to Start Reading Now” as well as “Beach Reads Perfect for Summer 2020.” Her stories are chock-full of feel-good romance and overflowing with warm settings, great friends, and family. Jenny is at work on her next novel, delighted to be bringing even more heartwarming stories to her readers. When she isn’t writing, or heading up her romantic fiction imprint Harpeth Road, she can be found running around her hometown of Nashville with her husband, two boys, and their labradoodle, taking pictures—her favourite pastime.

Massive thanks to Jenny at Harpeth Road Press for the invitation to join their very first blog tour!
