Today I am sharing my review for Life After You by Sian O’Gorman

Happy Tuesday everyone, today I am delighted to be sharing my review for a newly discovered author for me Sian O’Gorman. Since reading Life After You, I have added her previous books to my TBR pile as I loved the journey this story took me on.

Life After You

My Review

A lovely story where we meet Milly and her family, this story takes you on the journey as Milly is trying to come to terms with the loss of her father and finding ways to cope and move forward with her life.

I really liked Milly as a character and the balance of how she was learning to cope with her grief and the ever increasing demands of her job. I loved the passion she had for when she met Mrs Murphy and how this caused her to stop and take notice which triggered a chain reaction of events in her life.

An emotional story on many levels, I particularly liked the way it highlighted imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is a growing issue faced by not only new mums, it is now all around us and this story bought to the forefront how the people who seem to have it the most together often aren’t showing a true reflection.

A story that highlights loss, friendship, mental health and with a touch of romance amongst the glasses of grappa, a great read from start to finish.

Book Blurb

Meaningful and moving, a beautiful story with life-affirming qualities.

Milly Bryne’s world came crashing down when she lost her beloved Dad and boyfriend in a matter of weeks.
Losing her Dad has broken her family. Losing her soul mate made has made her give up on life and love.
After swerving from stability to chaos to despair, Milly finally believes she has her life back on track when the unexpected return of a familiar face to Ireland throws her life once more into a spin. Milly is forced to decide if her new life is the one for her, or if there is another path that will bring even greater riches of joy, excitement and fun into her world. Life just isn’t worth living if your heart isn’t in it?
Perfect for the fans of Cecilia Ahern and Cathy Kelly

What a way to start a chilly Friday morning, with my review for Autumn Skies over Ruby Falls by Holly Martin

I am a massive fan of Holly Martin and loved my first trip to Sapphire Bay and am excited to join the blog tour for Autumn Skies over Ruby Falls

PSX_20200911_085033

My Review

I loved the first visit to Sapphire Bay and couldn’t wait to read this book and visit Aria, Skye and Clover again. Set against a stunning backdrop once I had picked this book up I devoured it.

In this visit we get to spend more time with Clover and learn more about what has happened to shape her life and see her returning and settling in her childhood home again. The story touches on lots of emotions as to how and why Clover feels as she does and what exactly is holding her back from committing to a relationship. This book made me laugh, it made me cry and it filled me with love and hope as I continued to read.

The descriptions in this book are colourful and jump off the page with ice cream flavours that make your mouth water as you read. A story that inspires you to chase your dreams and picks you up and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster along the way. I love the village with its wonderful contrasting characters that help reshape the bonds that once existed between the local residents and the hotel.

Set at one of my favourite times of year when you can enjoy wrapping up in baggy jumpers with fluffy blankets and big cups of hot chocolate, I loved this story from start to finish.

Book Blurb

Get swept away to the sparkling Cornish coast with the stunning new novel from the international million selling author Holly Martin. Autumn Skies Over Ruby Falls is the perfect romantic treat to snuggle up with this autumn.

Clover Philips is exactly where she’s meant to be – back home on Jewel Island teaching dance to the guests at the beautiful Sapphire Bay Hotel that she co-owns with her sisters Skye and Aria. Her life is complete, except for one thing…

When Clover left London she also left behind a devastating betrayal. She hasn’t been able to date anyone since, let alone allow herself to fall in love. What she needs is a casual fling to ease herself back into romance. And as luck would have it, the very handsome Angel Mazzeo is back in town.

The chemistry between Clover and Angel has been undeniable ever since Angel first arrived on Jewel Island six months ago. And though content to be her friend till now, Angel is more than willing to help Clover find her dating feet again.

It should be easy to keep things carefree when love is off the table, but when every moment is magical what started as casual soon becomes something much deeper. Will Clover and Angel find the courage to tell each other how they really feel? And is Clover ready to do the one thing she swore she’d never do again, fall in love?

Perfect for fans of Jill Mansell, Sarah Morgan and Sophie Kinsella, this unforgettable romance is guaranteed to make you smile and melt your heart.

PLEASE NOTE. Holly is not the author of Princess (The Johnson Family). That book is by a different author with the same name.

Holly lives in a little white cottage by the sea. She studied media at university which led to a very glitzy career as a hotel receptionist followed by a even more glamorous two years working in a bank. The moment that one of her colleagues received the much coveted carriage clock for fifteen years’ service was the moment when she knew she had to escape. She quit her job and returned to university to train to be a teacher. Three years later, she emerged wide eyed and terrified that she now had responsibility for the development of thirty young minds. She taught for four years and then escaped the classroom to teach history workshops, dressing up as a Viking one day and an Egyptian High Priestess the next. But the long journeys around the UK and many hours sat on the M25 gave her a lot of time to plan out her stories and she now writes full time, doing what she loves.

Holly has been writing for 8 years. She was shortlisted for the New Talent Award at the Festival of Romance. Her short story won the Sunlounger competition and was published in the Sunlounger anthology. She won the Carina Valentine’s competition at the Festival of Romance 2013 with her novel The Guestbook. She was shortlisted for Best Romantic Read, Best eBook and Innovation in Romantic Fiction at the Festival of Romance 2014. She is the bestselling author of 18 books

Who fancies a little Christmas cheer to brighten up their day? Today I am sharing my review for Hopeful Hearts at Glendale Hall by Victoria Walters

Happy Wednesday, the weekend is now a glimmer of hope on the horizon and today I am sharing my review for Hopeful Hearts at Glendale Hall.

Hopeful Hearts at Glendale Hall

My Review

Don’t you just love it when you pick up a book and you know straight away that you are going to really enjoy it. Another read that I loved curling up with as the seasons start to change and we head into autumn, I loved my trip to Glendale Hall and getting to spend time alongside Heather and Harry on the farm.

Since moving to the farm Heather has had a case of imposter syndrome and this story explores the topics of anxiety, grief and loss really well. I felt emotional at times throughout this story as there are some poignant moments that really tugged at my heart strings. Whilst visiting these emotional moments and explaining the thought processes and feelings behind them really well, this story also created a lovely seasonal change in the lead up to Christmas and left me feeling really festive and ready for oversized snuggly jumpers and big mugs of hot chocolate with whipped cream.

I relished this visit to the wonderful residents of Glendale with a few new faces thrown into the mix. There was lots going on throughout the story, that kept me busy wondering what would happen.

A wonderful festive read full of the joys of Christmas and the importance of family and friends, a heartwarming story that will leave you feeling fuzzy. It has always been a dream of mine to live on a working farm and this story totally captured my heart and left me with a feeling of loss as I reached the end.

Book Blurb

What happens when love takes you to unexpected places?

Heather Douglas appears to have it all. But living on a farm in the Scottish Highlands with her partner, Rory Fraser, all while bringing up their adorable toddler, Harry, isn’t easy. As a former librarian, Heather is worried that she’ll never fully fit into life on Fraser Farm. And after the death of her beloved mum five years ago, Heather feels lost, as well as guilty for holding back accepting Rory’s marriage proposal because she can’t imagine her wedding without her mother.

So when ex-boyfriend, Stewart, appears in the village of Glendale, it’s a shock to the system. The man who broke her heart years ago now has big plans for the neighbouring farm and wants Heather to be part of the development. Knowing that she’s living a very different life to the one they had planned at university leaves Heather wondering if she has made the right choices since she and Stewart broke up. Especially when things start to go very wrong on the farm …

This Christmas, Heather will need to face her fears and let go of the past or risk losing everything. She will need love, faith, and a whole lot of hope!

Return to the beautiful Highlands village of Glendale with the latest book in the bestselling Glendale series – the perfect cosy, uplifting, romantic read for fans of Heidi Swain, Milly Johnson and Holly Martin.

Who fancies feeling festive on this chilly Sunday morning, check out my review for Christmas at Lock Keeper’s Cottage by Lucy Coleman

Next up today is my review for lovely festive read where we get to visit the Lock Keepers Cottage and spend the festive period with Immi and Tollie.

My Review

I love picking up a Christmas story and jumped at the chance to read Christmas at Lock Keeper’s Cottage. Immi and Tollie are at the heart of this story, after Immi tragically loses her Dad and moves into Lock Keeper’s Cottage in her teens.

A story set in a wonderful location, I love being surrounded by water and this story being based on the narrow boats really appealed. Immi is a loving character who feels lost at times due to a lack of female influence during her childhood. Immi and Tollie have a special relationship which is made clear from the offset of the story, with lots of happy memories amongst the sad ones.

This story is a Christmas to remember and I loved the Santa trips on the Stargazer the joy of the kids and how magically this was captured. The homemade garlands being strung and the overall feeling of aiming for the true magic of Christmas and celebrating with those closest to you. I felt festive as I snuggled up under a blanket reading this story, it made me smile and touched me with its sadness.

A book I recommend curling up with on a cold December day with a nice hot chocolate with all the trimmings.

Book Blurb

Join us for Christmas in the Cotswolds in this perfect festive escape, from the bestselling Lucy Coleman.

Imogen Tolliman never knew her mother. And when an accident robs Immi of her father too, she goes to live with her grandfather, Tollie, in his picturesque lock-keeper’s cottage by the Aysbury marina.

Tollie is the star of the Santa Ahoy Special each Christmas – a festive boat ride along the canal that enthralls both children and adults alike. And as Immi grows up, she starts to appreciate the magical community she is lucky enough to live in.

When Immi meets Gray Adams, she instantly realises he’s someone special. And as their relationship gets serious, they start to plan for the Christmas to beat all Christmases.

But as the day approaches, and the romantic snow showers turn into blizzards, their dream of a Christmas to remember, looks set to be one they’ll never forget – for all the wrong reasons. Can they salvage the festivities, or will old secrets that are finally uncovered turn Immi’s life upside down forever?

Let Lucy Coleman transport you away to a dreamy Cotswolds Christmas full of snowflakes and secretslog fires, mistletoe, friends and much-loved traditions. Perfect for all fans of Trisha Ashley, Holly Martin and Sue Moorcroft.

Happy Friday everyone, I hope your all looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend! This afternoon I am sharing my review for Fifty Fifty courtesy of Orion Publishing.

My Review

What a read, I was so excited to see this was available to request on Netgalley as I loved reading Thirteen and couldn’t wait to get stuck in. I am loving the Eddie Flynn series and I read this one over a couple of nights as I just couldn’t put it down.

Another brilliant storyline, following Eddie Flynn in this latest court room drama. I read with baited breathe anticipating the upcoming twists that make these stories such compelling reading. I loved the pace and found I was wide awake late into the night as I wanted to know what happened next!

Throughout this book I couldn’t tell whether Sofia or Alexandra killed their Dad, I loved discussing the story trying to workout which of the sisters were actually guilty.

Steve Cavanagh is quickly becoming a goto author as his books just capture you and make you want to keep reading, I eagerly await his next release and the chance to spend more time with Eddie Flynn.

Take a trip to Cornwall today with my review for Return to Cornwall by Laura Briggs #blogtour #returntocornwall #rachelsrandomresources @rararesources @paperdollwrites

I love a trip to Cornwall and today I am sharing my review for Return to Cornwall. I have previously read Laura Briggs books after discovering them on a blog tour and jumped at the chance to read and review this one.

My Review

Set in a Cornish castle, I loved visiting friends old and new reading this story. Julianne and Kitty are wonderful characters who are hoping to expand to their event planner business further by planning their best event to date.
The attention to detail in this story for the wedding they are planning is amazing, it covers the big and smaller details and is so realistic you can visualise the effect they are trying to achieve.
I really enjoyed the historical references in the story. The explanations were great and I learnt about the process of an archaeological dig and found it fascinating.
A story I really enjoyed reading, it was packed full of detail with lots going on throughout. I loved meeting all these lovely characters and their families again and had forgotten how much I loved this coastal location.

A wonderful love story with a few curve balls thrown in along the way, I really hope that Laura decides to write another one with these fantastic characters in the future.

Book Blurb

The sequel novel to the best-selling UK series A WEDDING IN CORNWALL brings new surprises, romance, humor, and wedding bells, to readers who fell in love with the first stories.

Busy mother of two Julianne Rose has extended her talents beyond the manor house, opening her own event planning agency with the help of no-nonsense best friend Kitty. Balancing the chaos of daily life with their respective careers in their beloved Cornish village means Julianne can rarely snatch a romantic moment with handsome husband Matt. And just when it seems things couldn’t get any more chaotic, a sudden arrival at Cliffs House lands Julianne in the most unusual event of her career.

The reappearance of Percy or ‘the old earl’ after years of adventures abroad has temporarily shocked Lord William and Lady Amanda and set the entire village abuzz with gossip. Grizzled, spry, and delightfully eccentric, he’s returned with a most unusual set of traveling companions: an archaeological team digging in a spot whispered to have ties with the legendary Camelot. But it’s Percy’s ties with a certain charming woman among its team that has everyone taken by surprise, along with the news of their soon-to-be nuptials.

Tasked with planning the big day, Julianne and Kitty spring at this opportunity despite its rushed timeline and their own woes regarding the renovation of their future event space. But as the big day rolls closer for the earl and his bride-to-be – with cakes and wedding flowers competing with pottery shards and an ancient warrior chieftain’s grave for attention — are there still surprising revelations to come?

Adding to the excitement is the return of former Cliffs House maid Gemma, whose posh new life as a novelist may not be all it seems … and Dinah visits in a flurry of festive baking for a holiday competition on everyone’s favorite baking show. Kitty’s life is in a tizz regarding both family and secrets … and Julianne’s happy marriage is challenged by an unwelcome sexy-and-persistent suitor among the summer visitors.

Filled with old friends, new adventures, and heartwarming Cornish charm, RETURN TO CORNWALL is an all-new, full-length novel—the first one ever to feature the characters from the original series!

Pop on your dancing shoes and check out my review for Strictly Come Dating by Kathryn Freeman

I love Sunday reading and today I am delighted to be on the blog tour for two brilliant and very different reads today. Kicking off my Sunday I am reviewing Strictly Come Dating, my first read by Kathryn Freeman and I loved it!

Strictly Come Dating

My Review

A wonderful light hearted read brimming with friendship, fun, dancing and romance.Maggie is that wonderful organised mum that we all admire who always appears to have her life together and with two fab daughter’s as a testament to her hardwork.

Whilst Seb is fun loving, disorganised and creates chaos wherever he goes. However the friendship that flourishes between them as he turns up with his sister’s to watch Strictly Coming Dancing each week is fantastic.

I loved the dancing lessons and the importance of the dancing throughout the story and how it encourages Maggie to let her hair down and have a bit of fun. This is a story that just dances off the pages as your reading I found that I was egging the characters on as I read and wanted to know what would happen next and how they would react as their friendship intensified.

The perfect read to curl up enjoy on a chilly evening and get lost in the wonderful dancing, fun and laughter.

Book Blurb

Saturday nights are strictly for dancing…

As the glitter ball shimmers and sequins flash, forty-year-old Maggie remembers the pull of the dancefloor.  But now, as a newly divorced mum of two, Maggie’s certain her dancing days are over.  Or are they…?

Encouraged by her friends, Maggie dusts off her silver stilettoes and enrols for dancing classes, all she needs now is the perfect partner.

And Maggie realises that he’s the only one she’d like to foxtrot with…perhaps even forever

Today we are taking a trip to Mulberry Lane as I join the blog tour for A Reunion on Mulberry Lane by Rosie Clarke #rachelsrandomresources #mulberrylane #blogtour #backablogger @rararesources @anneherries

I love historical fiction and this story is written around my favourite era and I was excited to pick up my copy and start reading.

My Review

Rosie Clarke has a wonderful way with words and I loved visiting the ladies of Mulberry Lane again. I haven’t read all of the books in this series but they are all written as stand alone reads as well. It was great to visit the lovely selection of characters dotted between Mulberry Lane and Devon.

I love reading a book that just sweeps you along and after the first few chapters introduce you to everyone, I was catapulted into a Christmas at Mulberry Lane. Christmas is one of my favourite times of year as I love the family time and this book really focused on family and it’s importance throughout.

Another wonderful read from Rosie Clarke set in the years following World War II as Britain started to recover. I love the attitudes of Peggy, Sheila and Rose in this story and how they don’t shy away from a bit of hard work and have nothing but admiration as they paved the way for later generations.

Book Blurb

Today I am sharing my review for Summer at my Sister’s by Emily Harvale and I am already excited to read the next one!

I love sharing a weekend review when everyone has a little more time to have a read and click to buy a book, today I am sharing my review for Summer at my Sisters which is the first book set is Seahorse Harbour.

My Review

A wonderful uplifting story set in the fictional seaside location of Seahorse Harbour. Emily always creates wonderful characters that creates the feeling that you personally know them and encourage you to keep reading.

This story introduces twins Josie & Diana and we spend the summer getting to know these very different sisters who as time goes by start to see eachothers lives from a different point of view.

I loved the descriptions in this story and the paddleboarding and visits to the lido remind me of summers on the beach when I was in my teens.

A wonderful uplifting story about letting down your emotional barriers and that love can come from the most unexpected places. I loved this story and can’t wait to visit Seahorse Harbour again as it was a book that left me feeling happy and positive.

Book Blurb

Twin sisters. One scorching summer. A bucketful of secrets.

Diana’s life is perfect. Her twin sister, Josie’s – not so much. But when secrets are revealed this summer, everything will change.

Diana has a rich and successful husband, two talented youngsters and an adorable dog. She always looks as if she’s stepped from the cover of a magazine. Her immaculate second home by the sea, for idyllic summers with her perfect family, was actually featured in one.

Josie has a messy, compact flat, dates, but not relationships, and she can’t even keep a houseplant alive. She moves from job to job, goes clubbing with her friends and often looks as if she’s fallen through a hedge.

Although Josie loves Diana deeply, each year she declines the invitation to spend the summer with her sister. Or any other family holiday. Because Josie has a secret.

But is Diana’s life so perfect? Or is she also hiding something? When secrets are revealed this summer, everything will change. Josie could finally have the life she’s always wanted … if she’s brave enough to take a chance.

This is the first book in my new series of standalone books set in Seahorse Harbour.

I am a massive fan of T.A Williams and was excited to pick up this book and take a wonderful trip to Italy.

In a climate where we currently aren’t travelling as freely this summer, this book is a little slice of heaven. Set against the gorgeous backdrop of Siena in the height of summer this book felt like a mini holiday. Once again brimming with wonderful characters, delicious food and great descriptions, I adored the connection between the wonderful dogs in this book and how the characters were all threaded together as I read.

This story touches on the richest of rich as well as the poorest of poor where people have fled due to conflict and unrest. Whilst a light hearted read, this story also threw a spotlight on events that people aren’t always aware of and what the impacts of these scenarios can be long term for all involved.

A book that provided the perfect escapism to enjoy whilst basking in the gorgeous warmth of the Italian sun and planning a trip in my head to check out the stunning surroundings.

Book Blurb

Lucy needed a change of scene. She didn’t expect the change of a lifetime.

Doctors Without Borders has been Lucy Young’s life for the past four years. After being rescued from a conflict zone, she’s making a change from saving lives under gunfire to practising medicine in safe, serene Siena.

Now treating wealthy patients at a private clinic, she’s never felt less comfortable. She’s used to helping those in dire need – not those in need of a nip and tuck. Her turmoil grows when she encounters injured tennis star David Lorenzo, whose smiles make Lucy forget her aversion to the rich.

She’s soon falling for the sportsman but is she losing herself in this world of excess? All she’s ever wanted was to help the underprivileged, so can her future lie in Siena at the clinic – with David?

This sunny romance is the perfect summer escape for fans of Lucy Coleman and Alex Brown.

About the Author

TA Williams

I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing romantic comedy is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.
