I love reading children’s books as with lots of nieces and nephews it is always great to have a new story to recommend to them or sit an enjoy when I see them.
Animalympics is a fun and enjoyable story from the first page, I loved the vibrant cover and how we followed a series of animals of all shapes and sizes as they competed in their Olympics whilst enjoying the story being told in rhyming verse.
The illustrations work wonderfully with the story, they are bright and colourful and clear for the children to understand which is great and helps to ensure that whilst younger readers might not be able to read all of the words the pictures will help them keep the thread of the story and be able to translate it and join in at story time.
I loved the rhyming verse and found myself reading snippets out to my animal crazy teenage daughter as I read. A really lovely story guaranteed to keep your little ones entertained on a cold winters evening whilst snuggled up before bedtime.
When the Olympics were cancelled, the animal kingdom stepped up to compete instead, and the Animalympics were created! With Woodpecker Will taking charge and animals of all shapes and sizes travelling from across the world to compete, this fun rhyming story is a joyous celebration of sports and doing your best.
