After loving my first visit to Mermaid’s Point, I couldn’t wait to visit Laurie and her wonderful family again. This time we spend time with her beloved aunt Nerissa, as Doc prepares to retire and Nerissa is forced to reassess what she will do if she loses both her job and her home.
When the new Doctor arrives with his bereaved children, the residents of Mermaids Point soon get to work in welcoming them. I loved spending time with Nerissa as we learn more about her broken heart from when she lost Gareth and she empathises with the Doctor’s children over the loss of their mother.
A story filled with love, loss, warmth and understanding, I found that once again I reached the end too quickly and I already can’t wait to revisit Mermaid’s Point and spend more time with Laurie, Nerissa and their families.
