My second review of the day is for a book brimming with escapism – Ellie’s A-Z of Love by Claire Huston

My Review

I was delighted to be asked to read the latest release by Claire Huston after loving her last book.

Based in a small village we follow Elle as she returns home from University and initially her crushing disappointment and being back where she grew up and faced many years of bullying. Through her penpal she has an outlet into the world and looks forward to receiving the letters from her fellow Zero after he finds her through a blog article she has written whilst trying to secure a job in journalism.

This story is filled with emotional highs and lows for Elle as she falls in love with a childhood friend and has the difficult relationship with her Mother never far from her mind. She surrounds herself with the people she knows she can count on to help her through the more difficult times and we get to see her grow and blossom into adulthood.

Another great story that is wonderful escapism, set in a scenic village in the countryside.

Book Blurb

Haileybrook, a beautiful village in the peaceful Cotswolds countryside, is most people’s idea of heaven on earth.

Born and raised in this small slice of paradise, Elle Bea can’t wait to leave.

It should be easy, but every time she packs her bags for exotic adventures, old loves and loyalties pull her back.

Will Elle be forced to forget her dreams of far-flung places and epic romance, or can she grab one last chance to have it all?

An uplifting, romantic story about friends, family and the relationships that make a place a home.

Happy Hump Day everyone, if you fancy a giggle then look no further and grab a copy of The Dating Game by Sandy Barker

My Review

Today I am delighted to share my review for a joyously light hearted read that will make you chuckle throughout, everyone needs to be a bit Abby in life. She is a wonderful leading lady who is funny, approachable and friendly, yet totally lacking in self belief at times.

The whole concept of the story was genius and with us being a household who loves Married at First Sight I found it entertaining from the offset and loved reading snippets out to my teenage daughter who also found them as amusing as me. There was a wonderful selection of personalities within the group of Does and I loved how the calculation of script was played out throughout this story adding to the humour with the villains, the fillers and the potential brides.

This book is a must for moments of comedy genius with wonderful friendships being formed, despite the fact that they are all in competition with eachother. An overall brilliant concept that I loved!

Book Blurb

Once upon a time, twelve women joined the hottest reality TV show looking for love. Except one had a secret identity . . .

Abby Jones is a serious writer. Or at least she will be, one day. Right now, she spends her time writing recaps of reality television under a secret identity.

When a recap for The Stag – the must-watch dating show – goes viral, her editor thinks she should be on set, writing the drama as it happens. The good news: the next season will be filmed in Sydney. Sun, sea and a glamorous trip abroad, this could be Abby’s big break.

The bad news: the producers don’t just want Abby to write the recaps, they want her to be on the show. Abby can’t think of anything worse than being undercover and followed around by cameras. But her career depends on it, and when she meets gorgeous producer Jack, Abby begins to wonder if this job might not be so bad after all . . .
