Kicking off this sunny Sunday with my review for Hot Desk by Zara Stoneley

My Review

I have been reading books by the wonderful Zara Stoneley since before I was a book blogger and as always I jumped at the chance to read the latest release and see what wonderful characters she had created this time.

I really enjoyed getting to meet Alice, Jamie and the array of wonderful characters in this story as they return to work post covid. I have been really wary about reading books with covid mentioned, however it was only mentioned at the offset and didn’t really feature in the story again.

Alice finds that upon her return to work, after struggling to work from home in her house share that she is returning to a very different environment to the one she left as they embark on a world of desk sharing and communicating with colleagues through post it notes.

Alice was a character who always put others first and would do anything for a quiet life, this is true both within the workplace and within her boisterous family. When she bumps into Jamie at work, she doesn’t mention that she thinks he was her drunken snog at a festival, so when he becomes her new desk buddy she doesn’t know whether to mention it or just carry on as if nothing has happened.

As this story gained momentum I wanted to keep reading to find out if they would become friends and if Alice would divulge who she was. I love post it notes and loved the idea behind this story and enjoyed my front row seat as I watched it unfold. Once again Zara Stoneley has written a thoroughly entertaining light hearted read, that made me giggle throughout.

Book Blurb

Same desk, different days.

A post-it note is just the beginning…

Alice loves her job and wants to keep it – whatever the price. But then she’s told the company is switching to flexible working and hot desking…Alice’s desk might look a mess, but she knows exactly where everything is. Or she did. Until she found out she’s going to share it with the most annoying guy in the office.
Jamie can work from anywhere. He’s quite happy to sweep his work life into a box at the end of the working day. But can sharing a desk with Alice be as much fun as teasing her in person?
With no option but to try it and see, will their relationship turn into open warfare or will it ever progress beyond a post-it note?

Meet the Author

USA Today bestselling author Zara Stoneley was born in a small village in the UK. She wanted to be a female James Herriot, a spy, or an author when she grew up.

After many (many) years, and many different jobs, her dream of writing a bestseller came true, and more than half a million copies of her books have now been sold worldwide.

She writes about friendship, dreams, love, and happy ever afters, and hopes that her tales make you laugh a lot, cry a little, and occasionally say ‘ahhh’.

Zara now lives in a Cheshire village with her family, a lively cockapoo, a cocker spaniel puppy and a very bossy (and slightly evil) cat.

Daisy & Kel x

I am a total bookworm who loves nothing more than to lose herself in a book. My pile of books to read is teetering higher and higher as there are not enough hours in the day compared to how many old and new amazing books there are out there to read. I love to read in my spare time and books are a massive part of our household. I feel really lucky that Daisy also loves losing herself in the amazing worlds the authors are creating for us and neither of us ever go very far without having a book to hand as you never know when an opportunity to read may present itself.
