I love kicking off the week with a new book review, today is my spot on the blog tour for Summer at Mermaids Point by Sarah Bennett

I love reading books by Sarah Bennett and jumped at the chance to join the blog tour for this light hearted read.

What a book to kick off the new series, I have loved every second of my trip to Mermaids Point and flew threw this wonderful story in just a couple of days.

A story that greets you with fantastic characters, I really enjoyed getting to know Laurie & Jake and meet the whole Morgan family. I love myths and legends and the Mermaid element is a magical touch to the story. As always the descriptions of the location are superb and it makes it easy to visualise the story as you read. I grew up in a seaside village and I loved the way the author bought Mermaids Point to life, the talk of the arcades and cafe reminded me of the bustle of the summer compared to the how quiet and bleak the winter months are.

When Jake’s boss decides he needs a break and sends him on a mermaid hunt, he arrives at Mermaids Point under the guise of writing a book about mermaids and mythical creatures. All the locals are curious about the new arrival and you can feel the pace of the story start to pick up as Jake & Laurie meet and sparks fly almost instantly.

I am so excited after reading this story to see what comes next for Mermaids Point and its lovely residents. This story was pure escapism and I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a change of scenery.

Book Blurb

Laurie Morgan runs a café in the small seaside community of Mermaids Point, named after the beauties rumoured to live in the waters a few miles off the top of the point. When a hazy image is posted online of what appears to be a mermaid, the café and the village are soon full to bursting with curious sightseers.

The most eye-catching of the new arrivals is handsome author, Jake Smith, who has rented a cottage for the summer while he works on his new book. Or so he says. In fact, he is a journalist, burned out and disillusioned with life, whose editor has sent him on a crack-pot hunt for mermaids…

Jake quickly finds himself drawn to village life, and to the gorgeous woman who runs the local café. But he soon suspects there’s trouble lurking beneath the idyllic façade, and when it looks like Laurie’s family might be involved, Jake faces a difficult choice. Pursue the truth, or protect the woman he’s beginning to fall in love with…

Warm, escapist, feel-good and altogether brilliant story-telling from bestselling author Sarah Bennett. Perfect for all fans of Trisha Ashley and Milly Johnson.

I am a total bookworm who loves nothing more than to lose herself in a book. My pile of books to read is teetering higher and higher as there are not enough hours in the day compared to how many old and new amazing books there are out there to read. I love to read in my spare time and books are a massive part of our household. I feel really lucky that Daisy also loves losing herself in the amazing worlds the authors are creating for us and neither of us ever go very far without having a book to hand as you never know when an opportunity to read may present itself.
