I love it when you find a book that totally captures you and transports you into the story and I was delighted to join Connie on her trip to the Christmas Market.
Oh what a wonderful festive read that is perfect to curl up with in the countdown to Christmas. A story that explores loneliness that is festering in the retirement flats where Connie delivers meals as well as her own loneliness and desperation to be in a relationship since splitting from her husband.
I loved the reflection on past Christmasses and how they reminisced about traditions that reminded them of Christmas and embarked to bring them to life on their trip. From the first pages where your greeted with grumpy pensioners to the final pages where they have left all their cares behind this book made me laugh and feel like I’d been wrapped in a festive hug.
Brimming with a collection of my favourite things, I love a Christmas market and the hot chocolate and the gingerbread houses were such detailed descriptions you could taste and smell them as you read.
I absolutely loved this book and Jo Thomas always manages to create a feeling of happiness as I read her heartwarming books. An author who is good for the soul and leaves you feeling like your ready to take on the world again.
Cosy up with the new Christmas book from bestselling author Jo Thomas
Residential-home caterer Connie has had one online-dating disaster too many. Hurt in the past and with her son to consider, now she’s feeling hesitant. Then one of Connie’s residents sets her up on a date at a beautiful German Christmas market – with the promise she’ll take a mini-bus full of pensioners with her…
Amongst the twinkling lights and smell of warm gingerbread in the old market square, Connie heads off on her date with a check-list of potential partner must-haves. Baker Henrich ticks all the boxes, but when Connie meets Henrich’s rival William, she starts to wonder if ticking boxes is the answer.
Will Connie’s wish for love this Christmas come true, and if so – with who?

Meet Jo Thomas
Hi, I’m Jo Thomas and I write romantic fiction about food and love. I’m not a chef, a farmer or even an enthusiastic amateur foodie with fancy knives, whizzy kitchen equipment and complicated recipes. I just love plain, simple, good quality food, made with love. I love the way food connects us and brings us all around the same table. When I visit somewhere new, I’m fascinated how the food of an area can take me by the hand and lead me into the place’s history, its culture and introduce me to its people and customs. My first book The Oyster Catcher took me to Galway in Ireland, learning about oysters, and since then my books have taken me to Puglia in Italy to discover local olive oil, and the south of France to taste – for research! – local wines.
Many Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for the invitation to join the blog tour. Please remember to like and share to help spread the book love
