Today I am delighted to be sharing a festive review for Stuck on You by Portia Macintosh

As we head closer to Christmas, I am very excited to be sharing a review for the wonderful festive read Stuck on You.

My Review

Stuck on You is set in the lead up to Christmas where we meet a photographer and assistant whose relationship takes an unusual turn over Christmas.

Sadie does everything for her boss since becoming his PA the year before and he has steadily come to heavily rely on her. I loved this story right from the off, Sadie is a fab character who works hard but is forgetting to play hard too and is never far from dealing with the latest crisis from her boss.

When Sadie ends up taking Damian home for Christmas to avoid him spending the holidays on his own, neither of them anticipate the change in direction his upcoming art collection will take.

A story of loyalty, love and friendship, Damian and Sadie have a growing friendship that I loved seeing explored in this story. I loved the post it note trail and laughed, cringed and felt sad whilst reading.

The Christmas scenes described were like watching a Hallmark movie and I loved the elf pyjamas and family traditions. A truly heartwarming story that will leave you feeling festive and excited for the upcoming Christmas movies and markets.

Book Blurb

Could a post-it note really lead to love…?

Sadie doesn’t have time for finding love. She’s too busy as PA for famous artist Damian Banks. When she’s not arranging exhibitions, she’s organising his dry cleaning or dumping his never ending stream of girlfriends.

But when she strikes up an unusual friendship with her desk share buddy, she finds a confidante and a new potential love interest. Problem is, they’ve never actually met…

With Christmas just around the corner, can Sadie put herself first for a change and find what she’s been looking for all along?

So excited to be rejoining the blog tour for Starry Skies Over The Chocolate Pot Cafe by Jessica Redland as part of the #ChristmasonCastleStreet blog tour with #RachelsRandomResources

Welcome back to my blog, so excited to be jumping back on the Christmas on Castle Street Blog Tour. A wonderful 5* read that made me laugh and cry throughout, I am loving reading books by Jessica Redland and this story totally stole my heart.

Jessica Redland Christmas Tour

My Review

After reading about Carly, it was great to get to know her friend Tara. The story is told from Tara’s perspective and takes you between her past and present day to establish how she ended up at The Chocolate Pot Cafe all those years ago.

I love the emotion in this story, the trauma that Tara experienced will really resonate with people and the lasting damage these scenarios create. Jessica is an author who always touches on real life issues and creates an emotional response to the events within the story.

Whilst reading this story I could feel all of the emotions and the endless Christmas spirit that is alive and kicking on Castle Street. The way the residents are woven together to look after one of their own is wonderful and reminds me of village life from many years ago.

This book was like receiving a lovely warm hug from a friend, it was oozing with a wonderful selection of flavoured hot chocolate, lashings of friendship and leaves your cup overflowing with happy thoughts. I loved the hygge theme, the whole concept fascinates me and makes me long for winter evenings with cuddly blankets and candles. Roll on the winter evenings as after taking part in this blog tour, I can’t wait to get the blankets and candles out and feel all warm and cosy for the next 6 months.

With a lifetime of secrets weighing on her shoulders, she has retreated from all friends, family and romance, and shut her real self away from the world. Afterall, if you don’t let them in, they can’t hurt you. She’s learnt that the hard way.

But as the weight of her past becomes heavier and an unexpected new neighbour moves onto the street – threatening the future of her cafe – Tara begins to realise that maybe it’s time to finally let people back in and confront her history. It could just change her life forever…

Jessica Redland Christmas Tour

My Review

Oh my what a book from an author who is quickly becoming one of my favourites to read, I loved meeting Carly and her gorgeous cakes and simply devoured this book.

What is not to love, a story full of love, family, Christmas and cake. Whilst reading this book I went on a wonderful journey with Carly as she juggled her ever growing business with family and the difficulties of working with family members.

A story rich in loyalty and love, I just loved it and found myself racing through to see what magnificent cake she would produce next and how she would reassure her sister and find a way to overcome her anxieties.

There was a real focus on how easily people can choose to hide their feelings and how quickly those situations can escalate and begin to unravel. I feel in the climate we currently find ourselves in that this is really important and helps to remind us that sometimes just a quick check in can make a massive difference to someone and how they are feeling.

A wonderful romantic story featuring real life situations, festive celebrations and lots of cake, it reminded me of Love Actually as I read which is one of my favourite films, now to get stuck into Jessica’s next festive read!

Book Blurb

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

As Christmas approaches, Carly is also eagerly awaiting the return of her best friend to Whitborough Bay. Liam has no idea he’s been the object of her affection since their schooldays. After years of pining after him, can Carly pluck up the courage to finally tell him how she really feels by 25th December?

#CoverReveal – Today I am very excited to be sharing the cover for a festive read by Emma Jackson – One Kiss Before Christmas

I love a good festive read and am very excited to get a sneak peak at the latest cover for Emma Jackson for her upcoming release.

Book Blurb

Could it be the start of her happy ever after?

Ashleigh could use a little Christmas magic. She’s still living in Brighton with her Nan — who could give the Grinch lessons in how to be miserable — her acting career has been reduced to playing one of Santa’s elves, and not even the prospect of a friend’s winter wedding can cheer her up…

That is until Olivier, the gorgeous French chef, reappears in her life. Or more accurately, next door.

When they were teenagers, Olivier would spend every other Christmas with his mother, who just happens to be Ash’s neighbour and owner of the best chocolate shop in England.

If anyone can bring a little sparkle back to Ash’s life, it’s Olivier. All she needs is one kiss before Christmas…

Feel-good and festive, this is the perfect romance to curl up with this winter!

Today I am sharing my review for Life After You by Sian O’Gorman

Happy Tuesday everyone, today I am delighted to be sharing my review for a newly discovered author for me Sian O’Gorman. Since reading Life After You, I have added her previous books to my TBR pile as I loved the journey this story took me on.

Life After You

My Review

A lovely story where we meet Milly and her family, this story takes you on the journey as Milly is trying to come to terms with the loss of her father and finding ways to cope and move forward with her life.

I really liked Milly as a character and the balance of how she was learning to cope with her grief and the ever increasing demands of her job. I loved the passion she had for when she met Mrs Murphy and how this caused her to stop and take notice which triggered a chain reaction of events in her life.

An emotional story on many levels, I particularly liked the way it highlighted imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is a growing issue faced by not only new mums, it is now all around us and this story bought to the forefront how the people who seem to have it the most together often aren’t showing a true reflection.

A story that highlights loss, friendship, mental health and with a touch of romance amongst the glasses of grappa, a great read from start to finish.

Book Blurb

Meaningful and moving, a beautiful story with life-affirming qualities.

Milly Bryne’s world came crashing down when she lost her beloved Dad and boyfriend in a matter of weeks.
Losing her Dad has broken her family. Losing her soul mate made has made her give up on life and love.
After swerving from stability to chaos to despair, Milly finally believes she has her life back on track when the unexpected return of a familiar face to Ireland throws her life once more into a spin. Milly is forced to decide if her new life is the one for her, or if there is another path that will bring even greater riches of joy, excitement and fun into her world. Life just isn’t worth living if your heart isn’t in it?
Perfect for the fans of Cecilia Ahern and Cathy Kelly

What a way to start a chilly Friday morning, with my review for Autumn Skies over Ruby Falls by Holly Martin

I am a massive fan of Holly Martin and loved my first trip to Sapphire Bay and am excited to join the blog tour for Autumn Skies over Ruby Falls

PSX_20200911_085033

My Review

I loved the first visit to Sapphire Bay and couldn’t wait to read this book and visit Aria, Skye and Clover again. Set against a stunning backdrop once I had picked this book up I devoured it.

In this visit we get to spend more time with Clover and learn more about what has happened to shape her life and see her returning and settling in her childhood home again. The story touches on lots of emotions as to how and why Clover feels as she does and what exactly is holding her back from committing to a relationship. This book made me laugh, it made me cry and it filled me with love and hope as I continued to read.

The descriptions in this book are colourful and jump off the page with ice cream flavours that make your mouth water as you read. A story that inspires you to chase your dreams and picks you up and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster along the way. I love the village with its wonderful contrasting characters that help reshape the bonds that once existed between the local residents and the hotel.

Set at one of my favourite times of year when you can enjoy wrapping up in baggy jumpers with fluffy blankets and big cups of hot chocolate, I loved this story from start to finish.

Book Blurb

Get swept away to the sparkling Cornish coast with the stunning new novel from the international million selling author Holly Martin. Autumn Skies Over Ruby Falls is the perfect romantic treat to snuggle up with this autumn.

Clover Philips is exactly where she’s meant to be – back home on Jewel Island teaching dance to the guests at the beautiful Sapphire Bay Hotel that she co-owns with her sisters Skye and Aria. Her life is complete, except for one thing…

When Clover left London she also left behind a devastating betrayal. She hasn’t been able to date anyone since, let alone allow herself to fall in love. What she needs is a casual fling to ease herself back into romance. And as luck would have it, the very handsome Angel Mazzeo is back in town.

The chemistry between Clover and Angel has been undeniable ever since Angel first arrived on Jewel Island six months ago. And though content to be her friend till now, Angel is more than willing to help Clover find her dating feet again.

It should be easy to keep things carefree when love is off the table, but when every moment is magical what started as casual soon becomes something much deeper. Will Clover and Angel find the courage to tell each other how they really feel? And is Clover ready to do the one thing she swore she’d never do again, fall in love?

Perfect for fans of Jill Mansell, Sarah Morgan and Sophie Kinsella, this unforgettable romance is guaranteed to make you smile and melt your heart.

She studied media at university which led to a very glitzy career as a hotel receptionist followed by a even more glamorous two years working in a bank. She quit her job and returned to university to train to be a teacher. Three years later, she emerged wide eyed and terrified that she now had responsibility for the development of thirty young minds. She taught for four years and then escaped the classroom to teach history workshops, dressing up as a Viking one day and an Egyptian High Priestess the next. If you are passionate about animals and conservation, check out my review for The Adventures of Ellie & Boo by Millie Kerr

Today we are sharing our thoughts and feelings after reading The Adventures of Ellie & Boo by Millie Kerr.

My Review

I love reading middle grade and young adult releases with Daisy as we both love to talk about the books we have read and the different feelings they create. As soon as I read the blurb for this one, I knew Daisy would love it as she is so passionate about animals and her cat Toodles is never far away.

I loved the relationship between Ellie & Boo at the beginning of the story and how she took her gorgeous furry friend everywhere with her. Boo is the pet that we all dream of having as we all wish we could communicate with our pets and see how they are really feeling.

A story that highlights lots of facts whilst being a work of fiction, it will help raise awareness of the impact society is having on animals natural living conditions and what we can do to help. Where we live we used to have a badger set close by and we used to love seeing them running around, however since more houses have been built they have disappeared and this added to the impression this story left on us.

A brilliant read that will make children stop, think and ask questions, with a few images scattered throughout to help with visualisation and impact. We both found the story informative and factual and it created lots of talking points. Hopefully it will help to create more awareness in children surrounding conservation and animal protection.

Book Blurb

A nature-loving cat and her conservationist mum team up to save endangered species!

Boo the tabby cat is born on a Lincolnshire farm and seems destined for a simple life. Everything changes when she’s put up for adoption and is taken in by Ellie Caldwell, an adventurous Cambridge graduate student who loves animals and is studying to become a wildlife conservationist.

Between lectures, Ellie heads to the countryside for camping trips, her Instagram-anointed ‘adventure cat’ in tow. On rocky trails, Boo discovers that, like Ellie, she has a passion for the natural world, and because she’s able to communicate with all animals, she can relate their challenges back to Ellie. But there’s a serious problem: whenever Boo tries to tell Ellie something, all Ellie hears is “Meow.”

Can they work out a communication system, and in doing so, save endangered animals from harm while encouraging public support of nature and wildlife?

Who fancies a little Christmas cheer to brighten up their day? Today I am sharing my review for Hopeful Hearts at Glendale Hall by Victoria Walters

Happy Wednesday, the weekend is now a glimmer of hope on the horizon and today I am sharing my review for Hopeful Hearts at Glendale Hall.

Hopeful Hearts at Glendale Hall

My Review

Don’t you just love it when you pick up a book and you know straight away that you are going to really enjoy it. Another read that I loved curling up with as the seasons start to change and we head into autumn, I loved my trip to Glendale Hall and getting to spend time alongside Heather and Harry on the farm.

Since moving to the farm Heather has had a case of imposter syndrome and this story explores the topics of anxiety, grief and loss really well. I felt emotional at times throughout this story as there are some poignant moments that really tugged at my heart strings. Whilst visiting these emotional moments and explaining the thought processes and feelings behind them really well, this story also created a lovely seasonal change in the lead up to Christmas and left me feeling really festive and ready for oversized snuggly jumpers and big mugs of hot chocolate with whipped cream.

I relished this visit to the wonderful residents of Glendale with a few new faces thrown into the mix. There was lots going on throughout the story, that kept me busy wondering what would happen.

A wonderful festive read full of the joys of Christmas and the importance of family and friends, a heartwarming story that will leave you feeling fuzzy. It has always been a dream of mine to live on a working farm and this story totally captured my heart and left me with a feeling of loss as I reached the end.

Book Blurb

What happens when love takes you to unexpected places?

Heather Douglas appears to have it all. But living on a farm in the Scottish Highlands with her partner, Rory Fraser, all while bringing up their adorable toddler, Harry, isn’t easy. As a former librarian, Heather is worried that she’ll never fully fit into life on Fraser Farm. And after the death of her beloved mum five years ago, Heather feels lost, as well as guilty for holding back accepting Rory’s marriage proposal because she can’t imagine her wedding without her mother.

So when ex-boyfriend, Stewart, appears in the village of Glendale, it’s a shock to the system. The man who broke her heart years ago now has big plans for the neighbouring farm and wants Heather to be part of the development. Knowing that she’s living a very different life to the one they had planned at university leaves Heather wondering if she has made the right choices since she and Stewart broke up. Especially when things start to go very wrong on the farm …

This Christmas, Heather will need to face her fears and let go of the past or risk losing everything. She will need love, faith, and a whole lot of hope!

Return to the beautiful Highlands village of Glendale with the latest book in the bestselling Glendale series – the perfect cosy, uplifting, romantic read for fans of Heidi Swain, Milly Johnson and Holly Martin.

Who fancies feeling festive on this chilly Sunday morning, check out my review for Christmas at Lock Keeper’s Cottage by Lucy Coleman

Next up today is my review for lovely festive read where we get to visit the Lock Keepers Cottage and spend the festive period with Immi and Tollie.

My Review

I love picking up a Christmas story and jumped at the chance to read Christmas at Lock Keeper’s Cottage. Immi and Tollie are at the heart of this story, after Immi tragically loses her Dad and moves into Lock Keeper’s Cottage in her teens.

A story set in a wonderful location, I love being surrounded by water and this story being based on the narrow boats really appealed. Immi is a loving character who feels lost at times due to a lack of female influence during her childhood. Immi and Tollie have a special relationship which is made clear from the offset of the story, with lots of happy memories amongst the sad ones.

This story is a Christmas to remember and I loved the Santa trips on the Stargazer the joy of the kids and how magically this was captured. The homemade garlands being strung and the overall feeling of aiming for the true magic of Christmas and celebrating with those closest to you. I felt festive as I snuggled up under a blanket reading this story, it made me smile and touched me with its sadness.

A book I recommend curling up with on a cold December day with a nice hot chocolate with all the trimmings.

Book Blurb

Join us for Christmas in the Cotswolds in this perfect festive escape, from the bestselling Lucy Coleman.

Imogen Tolliman never knew her mother. And when an accident robs Immi of her father too, she goes to live with her grandfather, Tollie, in his picturesque lock-keeper’s cottage by the Aysbury marina.

Tollie is the star of the Santa Ahoy Special each Christmas – a festive boat ride along the canal that enthralls both children and adults alike. And as Immi grows up, she starts to appreciate the magical community she is lucky enough to live in.

When Immi meets Gray Adams, she instantly realises he’s someone special. And as their relationship gets serious, they start to plan for the Christmas to beat all Christmases.

But as the day approaches, and the romantic snow showers turn into blizzards, their dream of a Christmas to remember, looks set to be one they’ll never forget – for all the wrong reasons. Can they salvage the festivities, or will old secrets that are finally uncovered turn Immi’s life upside down forever?

Let Lucy Coleman transport you away to a dreamy Cotswolds Christmas full of snowflakes and secretslog fires, mistletoe, friends and much-loved traditions. Perfect for all fans of Trisha Ashley, Holly Martin and Sue Moorcroft.
