Book Blurb

‘A lifetime of endings, a million goodbyes. None of them right. It’s funny what you remember when you’ve got nothing else to think about. All those things you should’ve said while you had the chance. You never learned, did you? You never, ever learned.’

Belle has a habit of losing things. Her friends. Her lovers. Her mind.

Everything ends eventually, or at least that’s what life has taught her. But what if everything she lost came back again? What if she got a chance to finally have her say? To face her past. To put things right.

Second chances aren’t easy when memories are all you have. So, when Belle invites the nightmares of her past back in, is she willing to deal with the consequences? Because maybe, just maybe, this time she’s getting what she deserves.

About the Author

StockholmMe (1)

Carla Christian lives in the Lake District in the North of England. A busy working mum of two teenagers, she has a passion for writing, art and travel, and these interests have been a part of her for as long as she can remember.

Constantly inspired by both the good and the bad in the world around her, she spends much of her time creating in one way or another; be it painting canvases for the blank walls of her new home, sketching pictures to capture memories of the many travel adventures she’s been lucky enough to go on, baking fantastical cakes with her daughter, or writing endless beginnings to a million unfinished stories.

The Things I Want To Say But Can’t is her first novel.

Are we now ready to see the gorgeous cover for this debut novel that I can’t wait to read, I love the colours of the cover and the blurb sounds great.

Today I am delighted to be taking part in the Blogger Day for The Wish List by Sophia Money Coutts

Everyone loves a mid week book recommendation and today I am excited to be sharing my review for The Wish List as part of the blogger day to celebrate publication day tomorrow!

My Review

When I saw the email pop up to read and review The Wish List, I jumped at the chance to read and review for the blogger day as I had seen some fantastic reviews for this book.

Florence is a wonderfully complex character who has put in various coping mechanisms after suffering a major trauma in her childhood. Her relationship with Marmalade reminded me of my daughter’s love for her cat and made me love the story even more.

The concept of the wish list is genius and I loved the introduction into the story of how the idea was born. I found the dynamics in the family relationship brilliant with the step mum and her neurotic behaviour. As the book progressed my feelings on the relationship between Florence and her sisters altered. Florence is a character that I gained admiration for as I read, I loved how she started to recognise what her dreams were and take steps to implement them.

If you are looking for a story to make you laugh and cringe throughout, this is the perfect book for you, the characters are vibrant and totally different from each other. The setting in the book shop is truly wonderful and I have reached the end of this story smiling and feeling all warm and fuzzy. A highly recommended read that will give you the ultimate feel good fix.

Book Blurb

‘You want me to write a list? Like a shopping list?’
Gwendolyn nodded. ‘Exactly. But for what you want from a man, not ASDA.’

Florence Fairfax isn’t lonely. She loves her job at the little bookshop in Chelsea and her beloved cat Marmalade keeps her company at night. She might have been single for quite a while – well, forever actually, if anyone’s asking – but she’s perfectly happy, thank you. And then Florence meets eccentric love coach Gwendolyn, and everything changes.

When Gwendolyn makes Florence write a wish list describing her perfect man, Florence refuses to take it seriously. Finding someone who likes cats, has the sexual athleticism of James Bond and can overlook her ‘counting’ habit? Impossible! Until, later that week, a handsome blond man asks for help in the bookshop…

Rory seems to fit the list perfectly. But is he ‘the one’, or simply too good to be true? Florence is about to find out that her criteria for Mr Right aren’t as important as she thought – and that perhaps she’s been looking for love in all the wrong places…

Sophia is a British journalist and author who spends most of her time writing at her kitchen table in West London and making 59 cups of tea a day. She has written two novels – The Plus One and What Happens Now? – and hopes to carry on writing books that make people laugh forever. Because we could all do with more of a laugh, these days, couldn’t we? Sometimes, if she’s not drinking lukewarm cups of tea in her leggings at home, she appears on radio and television talking about important topics such as Prince Harry’s wedding and the etiquette of the threesome.
