Today I am teaming up with Daisy to review Time School – We Will Honour Them by Nikki Young #TimeSchoolSeries #UKMG #backablogger @nikki_cyoung @hashtag_press @literallypr

Today Daisy is joining me on the blog tour for the new Time School release. She is currently reading the book and and I am sharing my review.

My Review

I really enjoy dipping into Middle Grade and YA fiction and enjoyed reading this historical fiction for children.

Nikki Young has written a book packed full of historical references for children to help them be aware of how the Polish families were treated at the end of World War II. Stories like these are so important to helping preserve our history and helping children to learn more through reading fiction as well as non fiction.

We havent read the first book so hadn’t met these characters before but that didn’t affect the story. The language of the book was easy to understand and the paperback has a good size font to ensure that children don’t lose their place as they read. This is a book that they can read independently or could be read with or by a parent.

Reading this story has sparked a thirst for more knowledge from me and would be a great book for schools as there are talking points throughout the story that could be explored in a group environment.

A great storyline to keep readers engaged whilst helping to enforce some knowledge of events that happened as a result of the war.

Daisy’s Thoughts So Far…

I am really enjoying reading this book. I am now about halfway and have found it easy to read and understand. The characters are varied and I like that they have different personalities so I can imagine them as I read.

I like learning more about our history and am looking forward to finishing the story and seeing what they discover on their train trip this time and what year it will be based in.

Book Blurb

Nadia Kaminski knows very little about her Polish grandfather so how is she going to write a speech about him to read at his funeral? She’s never really considered her Polish roots, so a trip back in time to time (to the end of the Second World War) and an encounter with Marcel, a Polish refugee, might be just what Nadia needs. Along with fellow time-travellers, Jess, Tomma and Ash, this is the group’s second experience of Hickley School in the past, and a chance to discover the struggles of those who found themselves stranded in a country that wasn’t their own. It’s time to board the train for another exciting journey back in time.

I am a total bookworm who loves nothing more than to lose herself in a book. My pile of books to read is teetering higher and higher as there are not enough hours in the day compared to how many old and new amazing books there are out there to read. I love to read in my spare time and books are a massive part of our household. I feel really lucky that Daisy also loves losing herself in the amazing worlds the authors are creating for us and neither of us ever go very far without having a book to hand as you never know when an opportunity to read may present itself.
