Today I am very excited to be sharing my review for Summertime at the Cornish Confetti Agency. I have loved reading books by Daisy James for many years and am thrilled to share my review today.

My Review

I do love a book by Daisy James and this book combines a brilliant author, in a beautiful location and with the ultimate role of making sure a wedding goes off without a hitch.

Lexie had the odds stacked against her as random pranks are played against the obnoxious best man who appears to have no sense of humour and is intent on rubbing everyone up the wrong way.

So amongst planning the wedding she is trying to ensure that nothing else happens that could pose a problem to Dylan & Kay’s dream wedding.

A wonderful read that I really enjoyed, this book had great characters and I loved the descriptions and theme behind the dream wedding. A totally inspired idea that was easy to visualise as it all came together.

A book that grabs your attention so you just want to hide away and read uninterrupted for a few hours.

About the Author

Daisy James loves writing stories with strong heroines and swift-flowing plotlines. She especially likes to create sunshine-filled settings in exotic locations – the Caribbean, Tuscany, Cornwall, Provence – so she can spend her time envisioning her characters enjoying the fabulous scenery and sampling the local food and drink.

When not scribbling away in her peppermint-and-green summerhouse (garden shed), she spends her time sifting flour and sprinkling sugar and edible glitter. She loves gossiping with friends over a glass of something fizzy or indulging in a spot of afternoon tea – china plates and teacups are a must.

I love it when you click with an author and I love reading books by Katie Ginger as they are always light hearted which is the perfect read right now. Today I am sharing my review for her new release Summer Strawberries at Swallowtail Bay.

My Review

I loved my first trip to Swallowtail Bay and was very excited to see the second book in the series advertised.

I love the location of the book, set along the Kent coast in a fictional town with the countryside just a stone throw away. I love living close to the sea and it really brings the setting to life with the thrum of the chatter on the beaches on a sunny day and seagulls lurking, these scenes are picture perfect.

In this story we get to know Hetty who has her own business as an events organiser and is looking for a way to branch out and create more business. This is how she comes to meet John who lives in a rundown house that is always in need of maintenance with its sprawling fields and and the gorgeous scent of roses in the gardens.

I loved the details of the planning for the event as I read and the new relationships we were introduced too, as well as revisiting some of the lovely characters who we had initially met in our first trip to Swallowtail Bay.

A wonderful second visit to the gorgeous seaside town where you get to know more wonderful characters. An absolutely pleasure to read, I loved delving into these pages and was smiling as I reached the end.

My Review

The Little Teashop in Tokyo is the perfect read if you are looking to loose yourself, this is pure escapism and I loved my trip to Toyko whilst reading this book. It oozed Japanese culture and traditions and took us on a tour of landmarks and let us relish in what their culture means to them. The descriptions were vivid and portrayed a love of Japan and gave great insight into the food and culture.

The characters were delightful and I loved getting to know them. Fiona was a complex character who was finding her feet after having her confidence shattered; making her bucket list trip and determined to take in as much culture and immerse herself in Japan both as a tourist and as a resident. Whereas Gabe was showing Fiona round Japan as a favour and had forgotten the beauty of the country where he had been submerged in his every day life and his previous on/off relationship.

I absolutely loved this book, Japan as a country is somewhere I would love to visit and reading about the amazing sights and traditions just made me want to visit even more. I would love to see the gorgeous cherry blossom and know my daughter would love the digital art museum. This book is escapism at its best, I was transported to Tokyo and felt like I was sitting in the teashop soaking up the culture and enjoying the amazing views from Mount Fiji.

A superb story, with a wonderful balance of characters that makes your heart break and soar as you lose yourself between the pages.

About the Author

Jules Wake announced at the age of ten that she planned to be a writer.
