Today my daughter Daisy is joining me on my blog to share her thoughts on Space Dragons which she has recently finished reading.

Daisy has just had her 12th birthday so sits in the higher age group for this book which is aimed at 8-12 year olds. She always has a book in her hand and was really excited to receive her copy and get stuck in.

Daisy’s Review

It all started when Stan looked up through his broken telescope and saw Venus’ eye. It’s an amazing story, about dragons that live on the planets of our solar system. The story was about stopping Hades (Pluto) putting the particle of light back to where it belongs and saving Stan’s sister.

My favourite character is Mercury because he’s funny and very talkative.

I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend reading Space Dragons, it was a book that kept me hooked as I wanted to know if Stan would be able to stop Hades and save his sister.

Book Blurb

If Stan Pollux had known he would be spending his summer holidays in the outer reaches of our solar system, he would have put on different underpants.

But when he gets kidnapped by the Planet Dragon Mercury, most things suddenly seem small and insignificant. Stan finds himself in a universe of dragons who had once ruled the skies as gods: Mars, Venus, Saturn and even Uranus way out back. This is shaping up to be the best summer holiday in the history of the cosmos until Stan discovers his stupid sister is missing and that Pluto (AKA Hades) is trying to use her to destroy the Solar System. And it will be all Stan’s fault if he doesn’t get Poppy back.

So, all Stan has to do is learn how to fight like a hero in space armour, defeat the dragon god of the Underworld, Hades, rescue his sister and save the world. All before his parents realise she is missing.

#Review Today I am really excited to be taking part in the blog tour for The Ice Cream Parlour by Isabella May #blogtour #backablogger @isabellamaybks @rararesources

The Ice Cream Parlour

Today I am really excited to be taking part in the blog tour for The Ice Cream Parlour, it is a lovely feel good read about the lovely Giovanna and her dreams. Gi is a character you will instantly love, she is full of determination and sass and continues to miss her home country after her family moved when she was a child.

This is the story of Gi embarking on her childhood dream to create her own Ice Cream Parlour after she has a falling out with her family which leads to her being estranged. She starts this process by returning to her home country to sample their flavours to help inspire her own creations of wonderful treats for when she returns to Bath.

I love the food themes that run through Isabella May’s books and was so excited to read this wonderful book. I loved Gi from the first few pages and found that I couldn’t put the book down and that I just had to keep reading to see what was in store next.

The Ice Cream Parlour is my favourite of Isabella May’s books to date, it is full of the drama of families and is brimming with love and dreams with the most amazing  edible creations. A superb read to enjoy in the sunshine with a massive scoop of your favourite ice cream.

Book Blurb

Giovanna Tonioli is a successful stockbroker with a famous sports star boyfriend, but things aren’t as sweet as they seem. When life in the city of Bath goes from Vanilla to Rocky Road, she takes herself off to Italy for an ‘Eat Pray Love’ style tour of all things gelateria. What she doesn’t expect to find on her travels is one smooth, hot dollop of temptation that she just can’t shake.

How will her spiteful twin sister react when Giovanna returns to open a rival ice cream parlour? Will Natalia get her just desserts? Or will things become even stickier? All’s fair in love, war and ice cream. Isn’t it?

*Marian Keyes meets Paulo Coelho meets Nigella*

The Ice Cream Parlour is a mouthwatering tale of fate, family, love and jealousy – with a delectable drizzle of alchemy besides.

#Review The Dinner in the Sky by Anne John-Ligali #blogtour #backablogger #bookblogger @rararesources @AnneJohnLigali

The Dinner in the Sky.png

Today I am taking part in the blog tour for The Dinner in the Sky by Anne John-Ligali. This was my first book by Anne, I love to find a new author whose books I enjoy and look forward to reading more in the future.

The Dinner in the Sky is the third book in the series, I read this as a stand alone and quickly got to know the wonderful group of friends. Constance is a single Mum who is working hard to look after son Charlie’s needs and continue to write bestselling books. She is trying to leave her relationship with Maxwell behind and start afresh but as the weeks pass by this isn’t as easy as she had first anticipated. Constance then finds herself on the receiving end of nasty tweets and is trying to piece together the clues to find out who is trying to ruin her career.

A story about the strength of friendship and supporting eachother when it really matters. I really enjoyed this book and have loved the opportunity to take part in the blog tour and get to know these quirky characters.

Book Blurb

After a shocking confrontation with an unexpected encounter, Constance tries to piece her life back together and is on a mission to finally move on.

The thought of having her friends near is comforting as they take time out of their busy online lives and meet up at their favourite place, A Cupful of Dreams Café. Everyone seems happy enough until cracks begin to show and all is not as good as it seems. Constance tries desperately to keep positive as there’s so much to look forward to: shopping for posh frocks, dinner at The Shard and a movie premiere.

As things start to look rosy, a few odd tweets begin to pop up from nowhere. At first, they seem innocent, but as the weeks go by and premier night draws near, not only do the tweets increase but they become more obnoxious.

By the time Constance and her chums arrive on the red carpet, she’s determined to work out who the troll could be and to keep them from spoiling her evening. However as Constance soon learns, the troll wants to destroy far more than that!

Breathtaking views of London.

Posh frocks and Paparazzi

But there’s definitely trouble in the air …

#Review – Happy Publication Day to Amanda Prowse – Today I am sharing my review for the superb The Things I Know #TheThingsIKnow #publicationday #backablogger @mrsamandaprowse

Amanda Prowse is one of my absolute favourite authors and I always pick up her books when I am looking for a book to immerse myself into and this book was no exception.

Amanda writes with such passion and relevance her books never fail to pull you in from the first few pages. The Things I Know introduces you to the lovely Thomasina (Hitch), giving you an insight into her life on her families beloved Waycott farm with Daphne her favourite chicken and her faithful dog Buddy.

Hitch has only ever wanted what all girls want, to feel pretty, wear pretty shoes, to be able to make plans and have dreams with someone to share it all with. In this story you embark on a journey with her where you get glimpses of her childhood that have shaped and created the feelings she now experiences and where you see her meet Grayson when he arrives to stay at the B&B on the farm and this sets a chain of events into motion.

I absolutely loved this book, it was a beautiful story full of love and compassion that carries such a relevant and important message that is especially important in todays society when people seem happy to openly pass judgement and share negative comments on social media. This book highlights how goals and dreams are not defined by what society considers the perfect person that they are anyone’s for the taking and how no one should be making anyone else feel that they aren’t entitled to have dreams and ambitions.

Amanda Prowse has a superb knack of tapping into her characters and visually creating them in her stories, she makes you feel as if you are standing alongside her watching her characters and stories unfold. She leaves a part of herself in each book and manages to evoke emotion and happiness through her writing and her books are always an absolute pleasure to read.

Book Blurb

Thomasina ‘Hitch’ Waycott loves living and working on the remote family farm and B&B. But she also wants more. To see the world. To own her own home. To fall madly in love.

But those are fairy tales, and if her life is a fairy tale, then she’s the ugly duckling. Her deformed lip, her crooked limbs and her weak heart have kept her from taking chances. But that’s about to change.

When Grayson Potts comes to stay, he’s unlike anyone Thomasina has ever met. He’s aloof, eccentric and exceptionally kind. He’s also totally unconcerned with the physical flaws that have always defined Thomasina.

The two form a bond that neither has had before. It’s possible that it could become something more, but Thomasina also wonders if it’s too good to be true. By putting her heart on the line, Thomasina may open herself to heartbreak. But she may also open herself to so much more.

#Review Today I am closing the blog tour for One Summer in Little Penhaven by Angela Britnell #blogtour #backablogger @AngelaBritnell @rararesources

One Summer in Little Penhaven

Today I am closing the blog tour for One Summer in Little Penhaven by Angela Britnell. This is a lovely read that would be perfect to add to your holiday reading pile.

Sam is a brilliantly vibrant character with lots of sass that you will instantly fall in love with when she stumbles upon Little Penhaven. This is my first book by Angela Britnell and I really enjoyed the characters she created and the way in which the story was told. It was a heartwarming story that touched on emotional subjects as Sam finds more than she bargained for in Little Penhaven.

This book made me laugh throughout and feel the emotions of Cade as he faced up to his past, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by Angela Britnell in the future.

Book Blurb

Could one summer change your life?
When high-flying American lawyer Samantha Muir finds out she’s lost her partnership whilst on an assignment in London, she has a dramatic reaction.

Rather than returning home, she resigns, leaves her business suits behind and jumps on the first train to Cornwall at the encouragement of a friendly stranger.

The village of Little Penhaven, where Samantha eventually ends up, is a world away from her life in Knoxville, Tennessee – and local farmer Cadan Day is certainly a world away from any man she has met before. But could the Cornish village and Cadan play a part in Samantha’s summer of self-discovery?
