I have just finished the superb Dear Rosie Hughes by Melanie Hudson #dearrosiehughes #lovethesmellofabook @melanie_hudson_ @harperimpulse

Wow where do I start, I picked this book up after hearing fab reviews and I literally couldn’t put it down.

Rosie Hughes has had a really tough few years and has signed up for a mission to Iraq hoping to find some closure, this story is an exchange of letters to her friends and family during her 6 month posting.

I loved this book from the very first letter, the insight it provided to being a woman on the frontline and the emotional rollercoaster experienced for both Rosie and her family. A story full of love, where Rosie rebuilds relationships and stripped away from the daily grind establishes the direction she wants her life to take.

A beautiful story from start to finish that I highly recommend and left me bereft when I had finished.

The best friendships are worth fighting for…

It’s been fifteen years since Aggie’s friendship with Rosie Hughes ended abruptly. But now she’s heard from the village rumour mill that Rosie is off to war, she knows her best friend needs her more than ever – despite what’s happened between them in the past.

As Rosie faces a desert full of danger and Aggie falls further from the path to love she’ so wants, the two friends write each other letters.

The comfort in their shared words is an anchor to the life they knew before…and the only constant in a world as increasingly unpredictable as the wind.

About the Author

Melanie Hudson was born in Yorkshire in 1971, the youngest of six children. Her earliest memory is of standing with her brother on the street corner selling her dad’s surplus vegetables (imagine The Good Life in Barnsley and you’re more or less there).

After running away to join the British armed forces in 1994, Melanie experienced a career that took her around the world on some exciting adventures. In 2010, when she returned to civilian life to look after her young son, on a whim, she moved to Dubai where she found the time to write women’s fiction. She now lives in Cornwall with her family.

Her debut, The Wedding Cake Tree, won the Romantic Novelists’ Association Contemporary Romance Novel of the Year 2016

I am a total bookworm who loves nothing more than to lose herself in a book. My pile of books to read is teetering higher and higher as there are not enough hours in the day compared to how many old and new amazing books there are out there to read. I love to read in my spare time and books are a massive part of our household. I feel really lucky that Daisy also loves losing herself in the amazing worlds the authors are creating for us and neither of us ever go very far without having a book to hand as you never know when an opportunity to read may present itself.
